If I hear one more person rationalize this invasion, and that's exactly what it is, an invasion by saying, "Why, do you want to pay $6 for a head of lettuce?" I sweat to God, I'm going to hit the roof!

During the Q&A with reporters, Myrick gave as a reason for proposing the bill the recent capture of three al Qaeda terrorists at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Now this is bug news.

You and me both, Uncle Vlad. I was raised to look at facts, ponder facts, and come to a conclusion using commonsense. In my honest opinion, this is yet another example of the fact that "commonsense" in America is missing in action.

This is just such a big gamble

And for what? What does anyone gain? Is schmoozing with Fox really worth pissing off the entire base?

The border is not about politics, or economics, or human rights, or anything else. It is about the lives of innocents, which will surely be lost eventually because of this issue. Tragic.

And it makes me furious that politics gets in the way of protecting American lives.

It simply amazes me on how everybody focuses on Mexico, when the bigger threat is north of the border in Canada.

####

Ditto.
Some [immigrant from Muslim coutries] families even own land on both sides of the border between British Columbia and Washington state. Not to mention First Nation lands that straddle the border.

Because Canada is not in the news and because Canadians are not Central American looking, Americans do not seem to be aware of the serious threat that the huge border poses. Even though the confirmed plot that was foiled by an alert Customs official was the capture of a Muslim coming from Canada.

How many attacks on the U.S. have been twarted because of the great leadership in the White House. There have been NO attacks in America since 9/11/01. The leadership of this country must be doing something right... Scream it from every hilltop because the Bush Bashing media will never report it.

The Albuquerque Journal reported within the last two weeks that Richardson has placed Army troops on the Mexican border using a bunch of Stryker combat vehicles with some hi tech surveillance gadgetry. Maybe that makes sense now.

Suspicious jacket shows plane flying toward tower, Arabic military badge

The discovery in Texas of a jacket featuring an Arabic military badge and an airplane headed toward a tower with the words "Midnight Mission" is fueling fears of a possible connection to terrorism.

Don't want to let facts get into the way but at least six of the hijackers were here illegally, and in reality all were here illegally as they lied about their purpose for entry....

immigration violators were also involved in world trade center bombing, millenium plot, and the new york subway bombing conspiracy...

most crooks use one avenue such as obtaining legal visas and when that avenue comes to light and is given closer scrutiny, they try other avenues...thus the open porous border...only idiots would keep using the same modus operandi that has been exposed...

What amazes ME regarding this thread is the title SAYS Mexico, yet it's been turned around to the Canadian borders.

A lot of time, if you listen to talk radio or watch the news, the liberals do that alot. They turn things around to take the focus off of the subject at hand.

We need to expand the minuteman project and allow them to "shoot to kill". That may sound harsh but would rather see legal citizens get killed by these illegals?

Why are we so lax with criminal but are so willing to kill babies?

"Why? I agree with Bush and his efforts to secure the borders. IIRC he has spent more than his predecessor on the situation. It was a wreck when he came to Office, and I think he will set it in better order by 2008 than when he arrived in 2000."

Bwwwwaaahahhahahhahahahahahahah!

Oh, that was a good one!

ROTFLMAO!

That'll keep me laughing until the terrorists that George 'the nincompoop' has let cross our wide open borders take out a major American city.

In the meantime, I'll keep working to support the millions of illegal scum that are a net loss to our economy and a drain on our treasury and the U.S. Taxpayers.

Bingo! Your post (#103) "Our prisons are full of Imams proseltitizing the inmates for years to Muslim."
Absolutely a bigger threat to our nation than the open boarders. And while they are developing their terrorist cells in the prisons, we are paying for their room, board, medical care and recreation. Perfect set up for their workshops and at our expense!
Isn't it strange we hear very little about this? If you visit a prison or perhaps a "guest", (snip) It's very obvious, there are two kinds of cells in our jails.

It's been 4 years since 9/11. There's no change at the borders....they doors are open. He and all the other elected officials have done crap about the borders.

On our last visit to Washington, DC in May, my boyfriend and I were saddened and appalled to see that it's an armed camp, showing our fear of the terrorists.

Access to our national monuments is restricted to a small number of ticket holders (regardless of citizenship) who must line up at 8:30 am each day to receive a ticket.

The Washington Monument is ringed by bunkers and a token presence of lightly-armed National Park Service officers to prevent non-ticketholders from entering (regardless of citizenship).

These "precautions" prevent ordinary Americans from freely visiting the most prominent places of our national heritage. Yet, our Canadian and Mexican borders are completely open and virtually unguarded.

It seems to me that we are doing this exactly backwards. We show our fear in the place we should be most defiant and our stupidity and naiveté in the places we should be most vigilant. This is a potentially deadly combination.

We allow almost anyone who isn't an OBVIOUS axe murderer (with that fact tattooed on his forehead) unfettered access in the form of a "student" visa without an extensive background check or even the requirement to report to law enforcement authorities occasionally while they are here.

This foolish Congresswoman should learn to keep her mouth SHUT. Her constituency's "right to know" or her desire to show them she's "in the know" is trivial and incredibly self-serving (I don't care what her party affiliation is) when compared to real national security - not the highly visible but ineffectual SHOW of "security" being perpetrated in Washington that keeps us out and let's them in.

Pardon me if I scoff the next time I hear "land of the free and home of the brave." We are neither.

The terrorists have already won because they've kept us in fear and willing to voluntarily sacrifice our own freedoms. Even 9/11 hasn't made us smart about welcoming the terrorist asp to our collective bosom. What's it going to take??? I weep for America and pray for wisdom in our leaders and ourselves.

I heard on Fox today( from somebody on the phone in Jordan) that Israel has told of a plot in Australia, Jordan, and LA California. Aussies caught theirs, Jordan got theirs today, that leaves California. We better do something quick. Even a car bomb at a wedding would upset the economy, everybody would blame Bush, and the MSM would blame Iraq. Maybe that's what it's gonna take to convince people we are at WWIII, not just a police action.

The liberals know the mexican illegals will vote democratic if and when they vote....thats one of the reasons the borders are still open.

Why Bush is taking the stance that he is....is beyond me.

I'm a republican first....and just because I am unhappy with some of the administrations policies...which appear to be changing....slowly....doesn't mean I'm not a Freeper.

You hit that nail on the head. We have at least two different types of conservatives: the Country Club, good ol' boy Republicans and the common man/South Park conservative. The Country Club types are sacrificing our country on the altar of cheap labor and "globalism" so they can squeeze out every last dollar. This way of doing business is going to bring the US to her knees some time in the near future. Unfortunately, El Jefe Boosh seems to be in the pockets of the first group.
