Good Idea.
Make a demand of a group of blithering idiots that wouldn't let Bush secure the border, even if he wanted too. A vast majority of Pols in both parties love the open borders idea - cheap labor for business (& yes the unions - Hotel, Garment workers, etc.)and cheap votes for the DNC.
Before I get lambasted for the unions comment - make no mistake - every hotel, motel in Kalifornicate (and many elsewhere) is unionized and the unions love illegal's dues as much as Joe thugs.

Impeachment, removal, and criminal charges and whole helluva lot more than just Bush. Well said. Our Senator Chuck Hagel is so lax on border control, you'd think he wants to turn Kansas into a border state. My Congressman, Lee Terry, is a big supporter and apologist for amnesty for illegal aliens. They both need to go!

I am a Canadian with a Green Card and let me tell you my family and I went through hell to get it! I could write a book on all the troubles we went through - a 6 year quest of uncertainties, doubts, depression and finally when we recieved our Green Card we were so tired that we didn't say much at all. My point in all this is that the INS or Homeland Security really went out of their way to make us feel like criminals at every turn and we went the legitimate route to become legal immigrants. If I am feeling jaded it is because the same people who put us through hell and back are the same people that allow millions of illegals to come here and they have no fear of being deported once they get here.Your point and your post are well taken, aCDNinUSA. Hopefully others will see the folly of our "homeland security" system by hearing people like you speak out.

"BACK to REAL Constitutional Government and not this bastardized abortion we have seen coming out of
the District of Criminals over the last 100 years."
Amen to that. But don't expect the Bush administration to be any different. And really not much different than the Clinton administration, except for the tax cuts and whores.

My point in all this is that the INS or Homeland Security really went out of their way to make us feel like criminals at every turn and we went the legitimate route to become legal immigrants. Each of my grandparents came here and became citizens legally. It's a slap in the face of ALL legal immigrants by the powers that be not to religiously enforce existing immigration laws and remove illegals expeditiously.

Toss in the rest of the Nebraska delegation. And Johanns. All bought and paid for by the meatpackers and other illegals lovers. They're not much ahead of most other ag state congresscritters, just more outspoken.

And if that happens, I would appreciate seeing a few FReepers banned for supporting open borders which encouraged those Congressmen and Senators to ignore this serious situation.

I've had it with both parties. I became a Libertarian when Trent Lott said they weren't going to convict Clinton during impeachment. But let's face it, although the Libertarians have some good ideas, the leadership is too flaky to get itself elected to anything.
It will ultimately come down to a battle between the patriots and the politicians.

You have no idea how happy we in Nebraska were when Mike Johanns was named Secretary of Agriculture. It was the only way to get that worthless slug out of Nebraska. He was the worst Nebraska governor in my lifetime.

Thanks for the ping, Vel. The amount of Kool-Aid guzzling by the open borders lobby is really quite breathtaking. If we ever get attacked by some jihadis that came across our open borders, I will probably be kicked off the board for my comments to these guys.

If I hear one more person rationalize this invasion, and that's exactly what it is, an invasion by saying, "Why, do you want to pay $6 for a head of lettuce?" I sweat to God, I'm going to hit the roof!

During the Q&A with reporters, Myrick gave as a reason for proposing the bill the recent capture of three al Qaeda terrorists at the U.S.-Mexico border. Now this is bug news.

You and me both, Uncle Vlad. I was raised to look at facts, ponder facts, and come to a conclusion using commonsense. In my honest opinion, this is yet another example of the fact that "commonsense" in America is missing in action.

This is just such a big gambleAnd for what? What does anyone gain? Is schmoozing with Fox really worth pissing off the entire base?
The border is not about politics, or economics, or human rights, or anything else. It is about the lives of innocents, which will surely be lost eventually because of this issue. Tragic.
And it makes me furious that politics gets in the way of protecting American lives.

It simply amazes me on how everybody focuses on Mexico, when the bigger threat is north of the border in Canada.

Ditto.
Some [immigrant from Muslim coutries] families even own land on both sides of the border between British Columbia and Washington state. Not to mention First Nation lands that straddle the border.
Because Canada is not in the news and because Canadians are not Central American looking, Americans do not seem to be aware of the serious threat that the huge border poses. Even though the confirmed plot that was foiled by an alert Customs official was the capture of a Muslim coming from Canada.

How many attacks on the U.S. have been twarted because of the great leadership in the White House. There have been NO attacks in America since 9/11/01. The leadership of this country must be doing something right... Scream it from every hilltop because the Bush Bashing media will never report it.

The Albuquerque Journal reported within the last two weeks that Richardson has placed Army troops on the Mexican border using a bunch of Stryker combat vehicles with some hi tech surveillance gadgetry. Maybe that makes sense now.
