It was ab extremely sarcastic throw-away comment, but yeah you are right: gutless indeed!

Ya, it did seem out of place that it even got as far as it did. Especially since they waited "so long" (in units of news cycles) after the last gas-price spike. That part of the bill basically died due to short-term political climate change. And, as far as the RINO charge goes...are these 25 names out yet?

It's a sad day when someone like Ted Stevens is a profile in courage simply because he doesn't want to endow foreign-born Muslim terrorists with due process rights.

YIPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Sarcasm implied.)

LOL.. Just another day at the bat factory, OK. You got it.

This energy policy issue has been bounced around for so many years, it does frustrate some to no end.

I will defer any criticism of the sausage making process we are witnessing and trust that FR folks like Pukin Dog and Dev Six are correct and that ANWR and offshore drilling will be reinserted in the reconciliation stage and passed as part of a non-filibusterable budget bill, thus blowing any moderate or c'Rat delay techniques out of the water for good..

Yeah I know our legal system should have been reigned in years ago but it's our own apathy that's screwing us. After every post we comment on we should make a call to our congress critters.

For years the left has been the squeaky wheel. We shouldn't be surprised they're getting the grease. Time and again apathy leads to tyranny. Eventually time will repeat itself. I just what to go out slugging.

Please e-mail NH Rep. Charlie Bass at cbass@mail.house.gov and voice your displeasure with his "leadership".

As a New Hampshire resident, I will be doing everything in my power to boot his ass out of office. He does not represent conservatives in this state and his district (which is the majority composition).

I am so sick of the GOP. I thought the Senate was where we needed to affect major change but, hell, the entire party seems to need an overhaul.

Since the Republicans have turned into a bunch of whipped puppies, does anybody know if there is a party that actual conservatives can join? Where is Bush? Where are the Bush-bots?

Actually I have no problem with this. It isn't like the oil is going anywhere. When the time comes that things get much worse, like when gas hits $100 or $120 a barrel, we'll be glad we still have these reserves to tap.

This is absolutely unbelievable. I wish I could say "screw these guys, I'm not gonna vote for 'em in '06", but I can't. These RINO's say the alternative is much worse and guess what; they are absolutely right. Can we boot them in a primary? Maybe in some states, but in most primary elections are open to everyone; you don't have to be a Republican to vote in our primary. This factor always tips things toward the middle, making it easier for RINO's to win. So what do we do?

I think we need a convention. Not a convention like the ones before the presidential elections where we wear elephants on our heads and pat each other on the back. I mean a real convention: one where we debate and hammer out our ideas and platform. One where we find out where our leadership stands on the issues. One where we can boil down a list of key beliefs central to our party and say, if you don't believe in these ideals, you are not a Republican. I am so sick of saying I'm a Republican to someone and then having to go into a 15 minute conversation as to what kind of Republican I am. Here's a start: small government, strong defense and assertive foreign policy, free market, Judeo-Christian values and the fortitude to standby our beliefs and affirm them to the world in all circumstances because they are RIGHT. That is what we are supposed to be as a party. That's what we were under Regan. That is what we are here at Free Republic. That is exactly what we aren't getting out of our leadership.

We should be upon the dawn of the golden age of freedom right now. The Republican party in the United States, held up by the beliefs of its members, should be the one to usher in this new age. Instead we are letting our selves get bogged down in the trivial. The Democrats are pounding their fists demanding that we pay attention to each and every tree and we have forgotten that we are the party that sees the forest.

It has always been that way. The Democrats have always been the short sighted party. They focus on winning the next election, not angering other nations in the short run and making the budget balance on a year to year basis (by raising taxes of course; this always solves next year's budget deficit--untill the system breaks). We are the party that thinks ahead. We know that going against France and Germany now will be better for all three nations into the future. We know that lowering taxes may hurt next year but will make us stronger and wealthier in the years to come. We are supposed to be the party that doesn't say whatever it is we need to say to get elected (Clinton) but the party that says what we mean and means what we say (Regan--incidentally when we did this we saw the rise of the "Regan-democrat" meaning this is a way to win elections).

There needs to be a reckoning in our party of some sort. Maybe my idea is a bit off and crazed right now (I am angry as I type this) and is completely impracticable. But something needs to happen and if anyone has any better ideas I'm all for listening to them.

Remind me again, why do I keep voting for these guys? Oh yeah the other choices are worse.

This is very disappointing to me, we are researching fuel cells (not necessarily a bad thing) but we drop drilling in a wasteland?

What the hell is up with the malaise in the beltway GOP? I expect this crap from the Senate, but the House?

The media has these guys hoodwinked into thinking that their lies are what the rest of the country is thinking.
