Add to that a huge numbers of trolls who infiltrated FR in 2004 and 2005 to divide and demoralize by creating doom and gloom, and piling on the President and the GOP.
I disagree - I think you'll find very few FReepers 'demoralized' because of the trolls - on the contrary, their rank stupidity and juvenile spelling techniques actually cheer FReepers up and put a lift in their steps!

Absolutely it could have been much worse,
but that is still very thin gruel to serve.

From my perspective, there is only one party that takes the Islamofacist threat seriously and deals with it rationally. This is my single issue and IMHO the overiding issue. You either support that party or you believe that the Islamofacist threat is a fantasy.
Because I am so convinced of this truth, I have a hard time listening to a great deal of rhetoric and I hope for the day when the so-called opposition wakes up and realizes that we are at war with a real and lethal enemy that must be put down.

The only people who care about Bush's poll numbers are the MSM and Bushbots. Lord help us if he starts looking for a "legacy".

We have a large number of Freepers who are, or at least pretend to be, independents or third party types.
It's a far larger percentage here than in the voting public. They claim to be conservative but spend most of their energy attacking the conservatives in office.
The problem with the GOP is that RINOs haven't been marginalized or eliminated. But rather than focus on them, the disaffected Freepers blame the entire party. It's quite apparent what their agenda is.

Don't mind, I am recycling a pithy rant from another post, but it belongs here as well.
George Bush may represent the Republican Party, but everyone here knows that not all Republicans are conservatives, and he hardly represents conservatives. I am not sure our own GW would get such a high ACU rating.
Republicans own the damn government, let's shape it with our conservative values. Why the hell are some republicans ashamed of conservative values? Why have some republicans let lefty liberal demoncraps shame them into toning down their position and their values.
Believe me, if the demoncraps owned the government, both houses and the white house, taxes would go up, the UN would be leading us in foreign affairs, spending at least would not go down, it may go up, gay marriages, followed by gay adoptions would be the law of the land, settled by the supreme court by judicial fiat, felons would be given the right to vote and the age of consent would be lowered to 12 to help ensure a demoncrap majority, and the government would be in the business of helping its allied business partners take more personal property in order to increase the tax base, to grow more programs.
The demoncraps are serious about winning this game, and if and when they do, we are all f*ucked, because our democracy will have been nearly diminished and we will be an official second rate european type of country, with second rate european type of problems.
Conservatives have the right ideas, and the right perspective on the world, and believe in individual liberty over almost any other belief. That's why I think it was an EXCELLENT show by conservatives to criticize the nomination. Miers wasn't Borked. Bork was Borked after the gave intellectually honest answers to his judicial philosophy, particularly Roe v. Wade. That's when the Demoncraps screwed him.
You CAN'T appease the Demoncraps, their objective is only absolute power. Demoncraps are just like the Arabs. You can't appease them, you can only surrender and accept your dhimmitude and pay your jizya.
Why did Bush us refuse to exploit our opportunities by nominating Miers instead of a judge who will uphold the constitution, the most sacred American document, and the second most sacred document in the world after the bible?
It is the constitution, in it's original form, that will keep us as free men.

(4) Purge the trolls who infiltrated FR in large numbers in 2004 and 2005. These trolls are not necessarily someone who spread Dummy crap on FR. They put on a phony conservative mask and bash the President and the GOP on every occasion. Their main goal is to divide and demoralize. Their job is to spread doom and gloom. Purging these guys can stop a lot of the infighting and the demoralization that is going on. We need to report these trolls to the mods and do not let them get away with this. I don't see why criticism of Bush should be outlawed and frankly such a thought is contrary to free speech. The fact is that Bush's team has put out some boneheaded proposals and the President has done nothing to reign in spending, enforce the borders or manage the Supreme Court nomination process. The republican party has taken conservatives for granted and will likely suffer for it. Should I vote republican just to prevent a democrat getting into office when "RINOs" (whatever that means today) refuse to give up pet spending projects or support ANWAR? Free Republic is not the GWB cheer leading section.

Get back to the breaking down and analyzing serious news/events. I never add much to the serious discussions, but I enjoy reading the banter.

(3) Put pressure on the RINOS to stop screwing the President agenda. Gosh, I thought it was the President's agenda to do a lot of the stuff that I mentioned above.
(4) Purge the trolls who infiltrated FR in large numbers in 2004 and 2005.
Besides this paragraph being at odds with #3, what about those of us here since 1998? It's my unscientific observation that, although the best posters, except Alamo Girl, have left FR since 2001, those prior to 2001 are still more conservative than those in the later years you mentioned.

Well lets see. Most of the negativity is coming from two types of people although many are both types.
- The same ones who constantly predicted a Kerry sweep in 2004.
- The ones who have always and will always hate President Bush and the GOP simply because they do not worship Pat Buchanan.
The rest are trolls or the eternally pessimistic who see doom and gloom everywhere.
