WHITE HOUSE: Setting the Record Straight: Sen. Kennedy On Iraq
White House ^ | November 11, 2005

Posted on 11/11/2005 3:07:21 PM PST by West Coast Conservative

"It is regrettable that Senator Kennedy has chosen Veteran's Day to continue leveling baseless and false attacks that send the wrong signal to our troops and our enemy during a time of war. It is also regrettable that Senator Kennedy has found more time to say negative things about President Bush then he ever did about Saddam Hussein. If America were to follow Senator Kennedy's foreign policy, Saddam Hussein would not only still be in power, he would be oppressing and occupying Kuwait."

- Scott McClellan, White House Press Secretary

Sen. Kennedy On Iraq

Sen. Kennedy Said Saddam Hussein Was Developing WMDs: "We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." (Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA), Remarks At The Johns Hopkins School Of Advanced International Studies, Washington, D.C., 9/27/02)

Sen. Kennedy: "Saddam Hussein Is A Dangerous Figure. He's Got Dangerous Weapons." (CBS' "Face The Nation," 10/6/02)

Sen. Kennedy Now Says The President Manipulated Facts About Iraq's WMDs: "'Instead of providing open and honest answers about how we will achieve success in Iraq and allow our troops to begin to come home,' Kennedy said, 'the president reverted to the same manipulation of facts to justify a war we never should have fought.'" (Deb Riechmann, "Bush Forcefully Attacks Critics Of The War In Iraq," Associated Press, 11/11/05)

Sen. Kennedy Opposed Removing Saddam Hussein From Kuwait. (S.J.Res.2, CQ Vote #2: Adopted 52-47: R 42-2; D 10-45, 1/12/91, Kennedy Voted Nay)

Sen. Kennedy Opposed Removing Saddam Hussein From Power. (H. J. Res. 114, CQ Vote #237: Passed 77-23: R 48- 1; D 29-21; I 0-1, 10/11/02, Kennedy Voted Nay)

Good news indeed - Hope that GWB, the WH and Reps will keep the pressure on....

Nothing like a little "truth" about their "flip-flops" to help turn back the tide...

Senator Kennedy, driving drunk, crashes into a river with a woman passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne. Kennedy saves himself and leaves Ms. Kopechne to die. The accident was not reported until eight hours after the car had sunk to the bottom of the river (June, 1969)

'nuff said

Congressmen who willfully take actions during wartime that damage morale and undermine the military are saboteurs and should be arrested, exiled, or hanged.(Abraham Lincoln)

Jim Quinn went over a story about Sen. Lardass on his show earlier this week. I was not aware Sen. Chubby was only admitted to Harvard as a legacy due to poor grades. Then he was expelled for paying someone else to take a Spanish exam for him. Then he enlisted in the army on a 4 year tour to which his dear daddy pulled some strings and got it reduced to two.

I hereafter refuse to type his name due to my disgust for him.

OMG! Scott delivered a Kennedy Smackdown after the President's Democrat Smackdown? WooHoo! Ditch the "new Tone" forever from this point, we like this tone much better!

It is also regrettable that Senator Kennedy has found more time to say negative things about President Bush then he ever did about Saddam Hussein.

DAMN! That's a good line. LOL 'Cause it's true!

She cannot figure out why Kennedy is in office

I'm sure dumbfounded. Because Scooter Libby is indicted for an alleged crime that no one understands about an alleged leak about an alleged covert agent, the Vice President of the United States is expected to resign.

This swine Kennedy literally kills a girl, and the media quotes him as if he is the moral conscience of the Senate. It's preposterous.

How the MSM accepts Orca as a moral exemplar knowing his history is something I will have to ask God about some day.

The problem being that we aren't 'at war'. We may need to be, Congress may have passed laws which in detail are indistinguishable from our being at war, but it has not uttered the magic phrase "a state of war exists," and no one else -- not you, not me, not the President and not the Court -- is Constitutionally empowered to 'declare' us to be at war.

This isn't a quibble: being at war gives the government extraordinary powers and those powers ought to be explicitly implemented by a Congress which is willing to take responsibility for them.

We certainly are at war. It is the War on Terror. You want some more words spoken before you will allow the War on Terror to be real? Then you will authenticate the War on Terror? Our brave military has already authenticated the War on Terror and are doing a great job of winning it also. They've done it all without your permission.
