Sexual Affairs between Pupils and Teachers ‘Can Be Beneficial’ Says UK Prof

SHEFFIELD, UK, November 11, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A professor of education is contending that sexual relations between pupils and teachers can lend a beneficial “erotic charge” to the classroom.

Sheffield University professor Pat Sikes, in a paper to be published in the new year, “Scandalous stories and dangerous liaisons: when female pupils and male teachers fall in love,” describes instances of sexual relationships between schoolgirls and their teachers. Sikes told the Times Educational Supplement that she fell in love with her 22-year-old teacher when she was a girl and pupil of his at only 14, claiming that not all such relationships are wrong, even though the UK’s Sexual Offences Act has made all such acts criminal.

Child advocates were quick to condemn Sikes’ views as “bizarre.” “The Sexual Offences Act was designed with a welcome emphasis on protecting children and young people, rather than on the rights of the small number of pupils over the age of consent who choose to engage in sexual relationships on equal terms with a teacher,” said ChildLine spokesman Natasha Finlayson. The Sexual Offences Act, enacted in 2003, made criminal any under-age sexual relations between teachers and students. “For Dr Sikes to praise the ‘seductive nature and erotic charge’ of good teaching is misguided and bizarre at best.”

Sikes’ paper claims that “Expressions of sexuality provide a major currency and resource in the everyday exchanges of school life . . . and nowhere more so, perhaps, than in the seductive nature and ‘erotic charge’ often characteristic of ‘good’ teaching which provokes a positive and exciting response.”

National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children director of public policy, Phillip Noyes, said, “Children spend the majority of their day at school and teachers have a unique relationship with their pupils which should never be abused.”

Sikes emphasised that she is opposed to child abuse and that her views are based on information provided by schoolchildren who said their sexual relationships were voluntary and without regret.

I once had an English professor who had a whole staple of female students in our English Lit class.

Moral Absolutes Ping.

Hey, it's the weekend! Aren't these sick stories supposed to wind down on Saturday???

I don't know about you, but does it seem as though we're reaping the whirlwind? Reject moral absolutes as too old fashioned, too strict, fanatical, too religious, and this is what we wind up with. But it's not even as bad as it's likely to get. All kinds of people and professional organizations are advocating "inter-generational" sex and have been for some years.

Fight it! It's better to fight it and lose than give up. One day we'll have to answer for everything we've done.

Freepmail me if you want on/off this pinglist.

You have that right! A lot of people don't think we need God any more, but that's just not true. This is the kind of perversity that happens when people try to be their own gods. Yes, some people are strong enough to live relatively pure lives without God--not being pure enough to win salvation, of course--but most people will fall deeper into sin.

When I look at our society and see large majorities who no longer believe fornication or homosexuality is sin, I'm convinced we are fulfilling end-time prophecy. No one knows when Christ will return, of course, but he did predict a world like Sodom and Gomorah at the end of the age. Even 20 years ago, people hid their shame, but now they parade their sins with pride (another end-time prophecy). Then, they call us Christians evil for saying their sins are evil.

I only hope and pray others will read the Bible and come to know the Lord before it's too late, because I agree with little jeremiah--it's going to get REAL bad if this is the end of the age. Believe me, there will come a time when you won't be able to shield your kids from the perverts, because they will be in the schools, on TV, and in your neighborhoods (in much greater numbers than they are today).

Perhaps this isn't the end times. Perhaps God's patience hasn't run out. If so, we might just be able to join together against the perverts and restore morality in America. May it be so! For without God, we are indeed lost.

That's what I was thinking. (The scary thing is the person who wrote that song was a teacher)

Actually, now that I think about it, the song doesn't promote the affair as "beneficial."

Prostitution as an apprenticeship program, rather provocative, don't you think?
