Workers suspended for 'dead pool' [MO]

LEAWOOD, Mo., Nov. 15 (UPI) -- The mayor of Leawood, Mo., has apologized for a "dead pool" by eight employees to guess the number of homicides in Kansas City, Mo., this year.
Reading from a prepared statement Monday night, Leawood Mayor Peggy Dunn described the betting pool as "totally unacceptable and completely inappropriate," the Kansas City (Mo.) Star reported.
Eight Public Works Department employees were suspended for the "dead pool" that would have awarded the winner $30.
Seven employees were suspended for a week without pay while the eighth worker, who held the jackpot, and a Public Works supervisor who knew of the pool but did not participate in the betting were suspended without pay for two weeks, the newspaper reported.

How come the winner gets two weeks suspension while everyone else gets one? He shouldn't be suspended at all! Heck, all of them could probably go get jobs working for CNN and the rest of the MSM now.

Unless the imbecile mayor is suggesting that any of the participants would "personally affect the outcome" of the pool, I fail to see the problem...

KS, idiots at UP. It's also about the PC police and some idiots working for the City of Leawood who can't stand for anything "mean."
Seriously folks, have you noticed about everything that is really none of anyone else's business becoming "illegal" and everything that should be punished becoming OK? The world has certainly turned on it's proverbial head.
