Good Article.

I don't believe Germany after WWll became an overnight democracy.

It amazes me that their are so many Democrats have no real love for America.

You know these sorry @$$holes on the left are on the defensive when they feel compelled to constantly defend their patriotism for their inane actions.

I agree with you wholeheartedly on all points, except maybe the last:

I'm afraid that the "Bush lied" and "Iraq is a quagmire" memes are gaining substantial traction with the American polity.

Maybe so, maybe no. The people who are telling you that are the same ones who are doing their best to make it so. They wouldn't have prevailed in Vietnam had they not also succeeded in silencing their opponents by bringing Nixon down over an unrelated issue, and that's precisely why they're after Bush at all costs. Not this time.

War takes time, but in the mean time, the MSM & DEM are celebrating over Ray Nagin, shaking his hand, lauding him as a hero with a hero's welcome from the likes of Hillary Clinton. If this their idea of responsible behaviour then there is no end to the pit they will dig for president Bush... in fact, I think they will impeach him if the DEMs win the Senate and House in 06. Personally, I think the president has to either make it an official war or embark on the greatest war of words with the Left. He has to lead by silencing the MSM & DEM with everything that points to the terrorist's hatred and attacks against America. America has gone to sleep because Bush has done a great job in preventing terrorist attacks at home, but they have to be reminded time and again that they are at war with terrorists that will attack them at every turn... This war might take ten years. If America is not serious about this war all is in vain.

I think Bush realizes the stakes and we are going to see some amazing stuff come from him that will make Iraq his greatest achievement, his legacy to world freedom.

Thanks for this great site. All the best!

You'll need a 2x4 to go with all that common sense for it to sink in with a lot of folks.

You are quite right in your post. Two things are now obvious: 1) free elections will occur within a month as a democratic government will be stood up and undertakes to govern Iraq. 2) after that occurs, the United States will begin to draw down forces in Iraq.

The drawdown of forces in Iraq will proceed as Iraqi forces are increasingly brought to readiness and the process will accelerate as the mid term elections approach -which is the fact driving Democrat behavior.

We will now see a parade, indeed a rush, of Democrats proclaiming that it is now time for America to get out of Iraq. They will do this for two reasons: 1) because they can, and 2) because they must.

They can do it because George Bush has given them the space to mount these attacks by his incomprehensible rope a dope strategy which has nearly brought his administration to ruin. Now that the administration has finally come out of its torpor, the leftists must sense that the window of opportunity to get away with baseless lies to the effect that, "George Bush lied and people died," is rapidly closing. More, diminishing returns on this ploy are setting in as the administration fights back and names names of prominent Democrats who did the same "lies." No matter, the lives worked in the face of an inexplicably passive administration. The Libs seen their opportunity and they took it. Now they see that the opportunity and has passed.

The move to get us out of Iraq is really a chess move to get in front of events. The Libs know that they can convert George Bush's shining victory into an ignominious defeat simply by being the first to set definitions. This worked wonderfully in the past and nearly succeeded in throwing the election to John Kerry. By defining 2000 KIA as an excessive amount of loss rather than a trivial loss in the history of warfare, the left nearly succeeded in unhorsing George Bush and did succeed ultimately in convincing the majority of Americans that the price is too high and the war is a failure.

Now the Libs are trying to redefine the victory of American withdrawal to be a shameful bug out. If the administration does not come off the ropes on this issue and fight as it failed to fight about the characterization of casualties and the Bush lied theme, the left will succeed in Vietnamizing the war.

In doing so the left will have achieved one of its ultimate goals, the removal of waging war as an option in foreign policy because the nation will have surrendered irrideemably to the myth of quagmire.

It's true and I salute them all.We owe them our respect and our complete support. Now the task is to get as many Americans as possible to get a grip and see the truth.

By the media's defintion we lost the war in Los Angelas, Detroit, and Washington DC first. Most places in Iraq are much safer than those places.

Well Jim, they tried desperately to say Iraq was a quagmire, like Vietnam and that didn't work, so now they are trying desperately to MAKE Iraq into Vietnam by weakening the congress to the point where they pull the same thing the weak kneed congress pulled back in Vietnam.

One way or the other, they are trying to force us to lose.

Excellent point!

This military already has a plan to go to 92k in '06. The "withdrawal plan" is already in place.

You're right in pointing out that the real desperation here is on the the part of democrats who want to take credit for the draw down, and who need to establish the idea of failure in the mind of the public. If they don't, then '06 and '08 will be a disaster for them.

The MSM is, of course, playing along with this.

This is exactly what the dems want. They do not want President bush to have any sucess in Iraqi because that would leave them nothing to offer the American people but abortion, same sex marriage, and getting rid of christians. We have to do something to get the dems attention. Maybe start sending them tea bags every week beginning in 06. Think about it when 08 comes around and Iraqi is a sucess what are the dems going to compaign on?

As for the present hysteria over "exit strategy," as CongressmanBillyBob explained yesterday, we've never had an exit strategy in any war. And, I would add, since when do we broadcast military plans to all and sundry anyway.

We have won, and we are winning, thanks to our awesome U.S. Armed Forces. Thank you, boys and girls. Thank you very much.

http://www.house.gov/apps/list/press/pa12_murtha/pr051117iraq.html

From Murtha's webpage:

"My plan calls:

To immediately redeploy U.S. troops consistent with the safety of U.S. forces.
To create a quick reaction force in the region.
To create an over- the- horizon presence of Marines.
To diplomatically pursue security and stability in Iraq"

Sounds to me like he knows the war has been won and the rest of his drivel on the website is just that, drivel.

"To create an over- the- horizon presence of Marines"

And, of course, we also have the growing threat of Iran looming on the horizon. Here we have terrorists actually in the process of developing nukes. Unfortunately, I believe we're going to need Iraq for sometime as a base of operations. If we don't nip the nukes soon, we're really going to have a mess over there.
