Armed standoff at Tacoma Mall (WA)
Eyewitness ^ | 11/20/05 | Ramius

Posted on 11/20/2005 12:41:22 PM PST by Ramius

Two separate reports, one from my Dad and one from a friend... both at Tacoma Mall. Not being allowed inside, due to "someone inside with a semiautomatic shooting in the mall".

Large number of police on the scene, sealing the exits. Not letting anyone in or out.

Will post a source as soon as I have one.

Jeepers... call in witness talking about it sounding like 'pop pop pop' like a machine gun... Reporter says... "yeah - we're told it sounded like a semiautomatic weapon."

Friends, reporters, countrymen.... a revolver can go 'pop pop pop' too...

Isn't this in a "BLUE" state ?

Washington State went "Blue" because of the liberal activists in the Seattle area. But Tacoma is where Fort Lewis and McChord AFB are located. Fort Lewis has the 2nd Ranger Battalion and the 1st Special Forces Group. V-E-R-Y pro-military and conservative area. When I was on active duty with the now decommissioned 9th Infantry Division in the 1980's I was at Lewis. I got a CCW there and carried everywhere, many soldiers then did so...now of course it's gotten all pc and troops and officers can't even have personally owned guns on post unless they're locked in an arms room and you get permission from the commander to go shoot.

probably lots of packages dropped...

Could be, but if you heard the tone of a reporter who had just been in the area and spoke to an officer about the package (also described as "device"), the mood is quite serious. The reporter said "the dynamic is different" from the typical suspicious package report. Let's hope it does turn out to be benign.

Another interesting thing is that SWAT teams who are now on scene had trained at this very mall.

Same actions were taken in my area with law enforcement about a year ago. Looks like they are ready for this !

So far, CNN and other legacy media are referring to the perp as simply "a shooter."

This means we can rule out a 30-50 white male with a scraggly moustache, dressed in jeans and a dirty NRA t-shirt; since they would certainly have said so on the slightest hint.
Same for a chubby Asian youth in a black D&D t-shirt.

If the shooter were simply "a man" he might be Black or Hispanic.

A woman in a burqa is still a possibility, as is the offically non-existent perp-category of "M**dle-E***tern male."

If the PC/dhimmi authoritites stall on releasing a name or any reference to ethnicity, we'll be sure.

OK> in keeping with my handle, I look at this as a civilian problem now that I know there is negotiations going on. A terrorist attack would be over now (with the obvious Boom).

Thanks. I was just considering going out that way! Channel 2 has a lot of news about it.

NO idea if it's a terrorist or a punk. But for what it's worth, the Seattle-Tacoma area has been associated with terrorists several times in the past few years. There was the Washington sniper, and there were several who came in over the Canadian border.

People pulled in/dragged into J.C. Penney as refuge. At least one injured person (shot in leg) abandoned in main hallway due to danger to others. This person has probably been transported to hospital by now.

Well... more to the point: The neighborhood around the mall has been a high crime / gang area for quite some time. The 'Hilltop' district, just a couple miles north, is gangbanger central.

this is looking less and less like a terrorist attack...the 12 year hold hostage wasn't killed and if terrorist wanted to srike a mall they would have hit next weekend for the start of the christmas shopping season=more people
