I'm posting because I was wondering what all you guys think about the notion of a possible EMP attack on the US.

I say we should prime Russia for an invasion of Iran, and China to invade and occupy North Korea.

Just a hunch, but I'll bet one dollar this will happen. There is even evidence that the latter is being planned.

Interesting, because Iran was known as Persia until World War II. The reason? Because Iran is a translation of Aryan. They felt they were distant cousins of the Germans.

Gingrich pointed out that such a sneak attack – especially if launched from a merchant ship at sea – could have the added benefit of deniability by Iran.
We have to be clear about this to Iran: once something this catastrophic happens to us, we aren't going to be listening to anybody's denials.

I think its a good thing we have troops on opposite sides of Iran's borders, lets clean up the operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and get ready for our next mission.

I think this plan of the Iranians is akin to saying, "if I ever get into a fight with Mike Tyson, the first thing I'm gonna do is kick him in the shins." Yeah? THEN what are you gonna do?

In short, the Iranians would be utter fools to do something like this. IMO.

No question about it. Iran would love to put one in here. Newt is right about the rise of Islamo Fascism from Constantinople to Jakarta being a parallel to the rise of fascism in Europe prior to WW II.

This time though the USA will not isolate itself. Iran and Syria are next to get in l9ine with International law regarding the harboring of terrorists or we will go into Iran after them. Iran doesn't think we will , and is sending arms and explosives into Iraq. If they do not stop , the USA and its Alllies will roll them up and in the process destroy their nuclear program.

The problem is the world economies, including Iran, are so tightly connected together that such an attack would crash our economy on the first day and the rest of the world's economies the next day.

So even if by some miracle the U.S. does not countattack Iran, the rest of the world will.

An Armenian person born in Iran who is an American citizen went there monts ago and he said the place is infested with fanatics and that we'd be going to war soon with them.

I agree.

It might be a premptive attack, but, it won't be a suprize attack... NORAD can track it.
I just hope the new defense sheild either operational, or capible to the task.
We also have some of these.

I don't think we would attack Iran ala Iraq. We would have to obliterate them from the air first.

WARS AND RUMORS OF WARS Gingrich sees Iran threat to U.S. like Nazi Germany

Any country that will ban neckties is probably headed down the same
path as a country that burns books (and all that flows from that).

The Wall Street Journal noted that neckties are banned in Iran
because it reminds those practitioners of The Religion of Peace
of a crucifix. I'd wondered why the new leader of Iran always appears
with an open-collar shirt sans necktie...leave it to the Wall Street
Journal to reveal about the millionth reason the planet should
NEVER let Islam run the world.

I had a tour of one facilities recently that is heavily computerized and yet all of the datas are stored in optical discs. This is a protection against magnetic pulses attack.

I would believe many other agencies are also protected by appropriate storage of such sensitive datas.

We are prepared.

I'm not stating any classified information, when I say, this threat has already been analyzed, and taken into account by our military. It is actually a quite simple task, to harden electronics from an EMP discharge, by using shielded, grounded metal enclosures. Moreover, many electronic chips, which the military uses, are also hardened, to resist this problem. The EMP causes transients, which fry circuitry, however, lightening also causes transients, and many important installations, take transients into account. The only important consideration, is that the shielding is properly installed. The effect is known as the tesla effect, which basically, is that being in a metal cage, or box, is the safest place to be, in a lightening (in this case, transient) storm. I have no doubt, however, that the damage that would be caused to our civilian infrastructure, would be enormous, and costly, but hardly anything that would bring us to ur knees. Beware the country that attempts to attack on our military, in such a manner, is my only advice for any country contemplating such a manuver.

I doubt that Iran would attack the U.S. but they may attack Israel just as they said they would if they had nukes.
