I like to remind the "Happy Holiday" crowd that holiday refers to holy day!

Will not be shopping at Macy's , or wall-mart, or target this year. Anyone that wishes me happy holidays, I reply to them and "A Merry Christmas to you." I have seen a lot of jaw dropping.

But that could be referring to a Jewish holy day.

Most store employees use "happy holidays" these days, and when I respond with "Merry Christmas" they usually seem happy I did.

Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas?Either is nice in my opinion, I accept them as good tidings of great cheer!
And I get considerable entertainment out of the prigs that ~do~ get upset about this stuff. :~D
People... I just gotta love 'em.

I do. I resist early Christmas. Christmas begins on December 25th and ends on Epiphany.

Can't we just get through Thanksgiving before we worry about anyone saying Merry Christmas? Forgive them. They're just so excited to get started!

Merry Ramadama Kwanza! LOL

This is a non-issue, as far as I'm concerned. Christmas takes over the country for four weeks every year, beginning with the day after Thanksgiving. No one is trying to supress this holiday. Every year it gets bigger and bigger and more outrageous.
Some people just like to feel persecuted.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, but don't expect to hear someone say it.Oh yea?
Cross MY path and you will get a Merry Christmas! : )
Gosh, I don't mean to frighten anyone....

Every year it gets bigger and bigger and more outrageous. And the true meaning of Christmas on a national level is less and less understood.

"But that could be referring to a Jewish holy day."
I guess I don't take your point.
my point was people who try to avoid a religious reference by saying the word Christmas, are still making a religious reference when saying holiday, they often walk away muttering something about season's greetings......

And the true meaning of Christmas on a national level is less and less understood.Point taken. But it's crazy to say that anyone is trying to "take away" Christmas as a holiday. There's waaaaay to much money being made for that to ever happen.
