Iraq War Vet Spat On, Called Baby Killer
Sunday, November 27, 2005 | Kristinn

Over the course of the eight months of the D.C. Chapter's Friday night demonstrations in support of our troops recuperating at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, we've been fortunate to be able to able to speak with many soldiers and hear their thoughts about the war and those who protest against it.

Recently, one soldier shared his stories with us of his experiences with those opposed to the war. To preserve his privacy from vindictive leftists, I'm leaving out details that might help them identify him.

The soldier told us of returning to a stateside civilian airport last year in uniform. Most of the time, he said, he and his fellow soldiers are greeted warmly, regardless of politics.

However, this time he was approached by a man who berated his service. The soldier responded with what is a standard statement, that he was fighting for the man's right to make such comments.

The man replied by spitting on the soldier.

A police officer witnessed the exchange and promptly intervened. He arrested the man for assault and took him away.

This month, while the soldier was staying at Walter Reed, he ventured out with four of his buddies for a relaxing evening at a local establishment.

A man approached the obviously wounded soldier and called him a "baby killer." The soldier responded by telling the man that he was fighting for his right to say things like that.

The man replied by shoving the soldier hard in the chest with both hands.

The soldier instinctively defended himself and decked the man with one punch.

As the man lay on the floor, five of his friends approached the wounded soldier to take him and his four buddies on.

Foolishly, they failed to recognize the group of eight Marines and Air Force personnel also hanging out in the joint who had been watching the wounded soldier's back.

It was all over very quickly. The manager asked everyone to leave, but he made a point of thanking the military men for their service to our country.

There will be more of it, but we can't let it go by without stepping up to back up our guys. We can't let the twits get away with it this time.

I wholeheartedly agree. If you're within a few hours of Walter Reed, I hope you'll join us one Friday evening.

The guy should have been punched and kicked in the groin so hard he could never produce. That would be justice, imo!

I would have kicked him in the groin so hard, he would have had to swallow his testicles before he could breathe again....THAT IS JUSTICE!!!!

kristin, this needs verified and documented. I'm not questioning you. I take you at your word. The left has the luxury of denying that it happened during vietnam. They need to have their feet held to the fire over their conduct.

I was there and heard the entire story straight from this young man's mouth. Does that count? If you mean anything beyond taking this soldier at his word, I have no reason to doubt his story. Especially after seeing this filth in front of Walter Reed.

Sigh. That "baby killer" taunt is SO old now.

Yeah, especially since the leftists began celebrating Roe v. Wade as a sacrament.

Funny how Vietnam was winding down just as abortions began winding UP.

We ought to reverse the slogan on them.

LOL. I don't have a collection of them. I'll look back through Billf's reports. From a distance it resembled him. I'll find a link.

Yet it is THEY who don't support our troops (bringing them home now defeats the mission).

So, wait a minute. The lefties say they "Support our Troops" and then...spit on them?

So that means if I spit on a liberal, or a communist, or some gay person, or a feminist, I am supporting them, right?

I ought to ask a liberal that next time I see one...

"I love happy endings."

I was going to post the same thing. This is one of the best stories I've read on Free Republic. I guess it could have been better if it was Cindy She-ham, but this was still a great story!

Service rivalry aside, you mess with one, you mess with all. Wish I could have been there to help.

5 against 1 but the one was wounded (in Iraq). That probably gave the shover a little more courage. I met the soldier and would have put my money on him even without backup.

My guess is the shover can't find a girlfriend and took his frustration out on a real man.

I have no reason to doubt this story. What we need is a police report or an interview with the soldiers and protesters. This story needs to be told much further than FRee Republic. Your word is a good as gold to me. Outside of FRee Republic we're going to need more than that.

I read it as Marines and Airmen helping an Army soldier. That's what I call teamwork...8-)

Well, don't misunderstand. None of us saw this event occur. During Friday evening's Walter Reed "festivities" this particular soldier told us about the baby-killer incident.
