A MOVIE TO MAKE AMERICA PROUD (Malkin on Willis' movie)
Michelle Malkin ^ | 11-27-05 | Michelle Malkin

Posted on 11/27/2005 7:49:10 PM PST by STARWISE

The Sunday Times of London follows up on Bruce Willis' plans to make a film about the heroes of Deuce Four, based on the reporting of embedded journalist/blogger extraordinaire Michael Yon:

ANGERED by negative portrayals of the conflict in Iraq, Bruce Willis, the Hollywood star, is to make a pro-war film in which American soldiers will be depicted as brave fighters for freedom and democracy.

It will be based on the exploits of the heavily decorated members of Deuce Four, the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry, which has spent the past year battling insurgents in the northern Iraqi town of Mosul.

Willis attended Deuce Four’s homecoming ball this month in Seattle, Washington, where the soldiers are on leave, along with Stephen Eads, the producer of Armageddon and The Sixth Sense.

The 50-year-old actor said that he was in talks about a film of “these guys who do what they are asked to for very little money to defend and fight for what they consider to be freedom”.

Unlike many Hollywood stars Willis supports the war and recently offered a $1m (about £583,000) bounty for the capture of any of Al-Qaeda’s most wanted leaders such as Osama Bin Laden, Ayman Al-Zawahiri or Abu Musab al- Zarqawi, its commander in Iraq. Willis visited the war zone with his rock and blues band, the Accelerators, in 2003.

Yes, someone needs to develop a conservative celebrity list so we will know who deserves our support. I am not talking just actors here. I want a list that covers actors, directors, producers, musicians, writers, publishers, sports figures, etc.. If a person is capable of getting national attention, then we need to know their values. And, a suggestion here, JimRob could keep a link to the list on FReeRepublics front page so everyone could have quick access to it.

So what will be their excuse when this sells BIG and their anti-military trash (like Jarhead) flops?

From that older Bruce Willis Website

WHY

I had been looking for an opportunity to serve my country for a long time. I had mentioned to my friends that I wanted to volunteer as far back as the Gulf War to go into the military. My friends laughed at me and told me I was too old to join and the military wouldn't take me. I looked into it and they were right: I was too old. The idea of serving my country remained in my mind.

Over the past few years from varying sources -- Time Magazine, books, and television -- information began coming to my attention on Foster Care; its history and the current crisis of an antiquated system overburdened with 580,000 children who have no voice.

Children need to be protected by interstate technology systems that can track placements, education, medical records and protect these children from predators traveling from state to state.

I saw Foster Care as a way for me to serve my country in a system by which shining a little bit of light could benefit a great deal by helping kids who were literally wards of the Government.

I met with the Government in February and voiced my concerns for the current state of the Foster Care system. I expressed to them my desire not only to help these children get back to the families they need and want but also my desire to actively advocate for the domestic adoption of over 134,000 children who are now available to be adopted but who are living their childhoods in Foster Care. I had decided to become the National Spokesperson for Children in Foster Care. I hope this area of the site educates and informs.

NOW, THIS IS A MAN .. HURRY UP WITH THE MOVIE, BRUCE. WE'RE SALIVATING HERE ;).

I come from a long line of military veterans. My Dad served 20 years. My Grandfather was in WW1. Out of seven kids in my family five have served and I am still in. Supporting the troops should be a high priority on every true American's list. Without our troops we would be walked on day and night. Now if we can just control the liberals and get them to see the light.

THANK YOU FOR SUCH NICE WORDS!!!
He IS home...He was gone for most of 2003...but hasn't left again since then!

He is a reservist (24 years)...and has a little time left before he retires.

I have never before felt as proud as I did the day he came home...
(well...there were those couple of children...I'm pretty proud of them too)

I hung out in the Canteen A LOT in those days...
Living in the Seattle area and working for a public (shh..) school...there was not a LOT of support for me here..
So...FR was my lifeline to other proud Americans.

Funny...when Dan sent me the picture it took me a few minutes to figure out that THAT WAS Bruce Willis...
:-)
He was SO SKINNY!!!

Glad you liked the pictures!
I will have them FOREVER!

Excluding Al Franken, the USO schedules good entertainment breaks for the troops.

They also have USO Care Package

================================

"He was never called up, but I still can feel that hollow fear I felt as a little girl when I think of the children whose daddies - and mommies - are in Afghanistan, Kuwait, other places overseas and soon Iraq. Some of them won't come home. Others will sacrifice time with their families, big moments in their children's lives, and career advancement while they're called up as reservists to fight this war. I think it's important that we remember the lives the reservists leave behind, and encourage their employers to extend full salary - either in addition to or supplementing their military pay - and benefits to these soldiers so they and their families have one less worry in a scary time.

We've put together this LIST OF EMPLOYERS as a place to start; it's a dynamic thing, so please feel free to send us more where you have personal knowledge of their support for soldiers.

I encourage all of you to write emails of thanks to these employers and, if possible, patronize their businesses. Let them know you support their support of our troops. And pray that all the daddies and mommies, aunts and uncles, sons and daughters come home."

SUPPORT THOSE WHO SUPPORT THE TROOPS!
