A MOVIE TO MAKE AMERICA PROUD (Malkin on Willis' movie)
Michelle Malkin ^ | 11-27-05 | Michelle Malkin

Posted on 11/27/2005 7:49:10 PM PST by STARWISE

The Sunday Times of London follows up on Bruce Willis' plans to make a film about the heroes of Deuce Four, based on the reporting of embedded journalist/blogger extraordinaire Michael Yon:

ANGERED by negative portrayals of the conflict in Iraq, Bruce Willis, the Hollywood star, is to make a pro-war film in which American soldiers will be depicted as brave fighters for freedom and democracy.

It will be based on the exploits of the heavily decorated members of Deuce Four, the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry, which has spent the past year battling insurgents in the northern Iraqi town of Mosul.

Willis attended Deuce Four’s homecoming ball this month in Seattle, Washington, where the soldiers are on leave, along with Stephen Eads, the producer of Armageddon and The Sixth Sense.

The 50-year-old actor said that he was in talks about a film of “these guys who do what they are asked to for very little money to defend and fight for what they consider to be freedom”.

Unlike many Hollywood stars Willis supports the war and recently offered a $1m (about £583,000) bounty for the capture of any of Al-Qaeda’s most wanted leaders such as Osama Bin Laden, Ayman Al-Zawahiri or Abu Musab al- Zarqawi, its commander in Iraq. Willis visited the war zone with his rock and blues band, the Accelerators, in 2003.

Hey - and a somewhat related question - did you know about the new show on Country Music Television (CMT) called "American Soldier"?? They are following a National Guard unit from Georgia. They're re-running it tomorrow -- 2 parts of it back to back.

Wow..good job. It's a shame that Google is liberal. At any rate, I hope God in Heaven blesses this good man. If he was 25 he would have made it through Hell Week for sure. Too bad we don't have more good guys like him.

Critics will pan it...
"more Bush lies"
"disgraceful US propaganda"
"right-wing hysteria"
"a film only a war-monger would love"
"Bruce Willis is no Michael Moore"

So let's hope it makes $500M plus! See the movie and take a friend and then buy the video!

I see from Michael Yon's blog that the producer of Armaggedon and The Sixth Sense also attended the Redeployment Ball when Deuce Four got home. Looks like they are serious. It's a good story.

I've already planned to buy the DVD when it comes out and give it as a gift next year. And maybe we'll see it more than once!

Conservatives want a positive message and we're going to have to support those enterprising enough to provide it.

Thanks .. I didn't know about that.

Here's some more of the fabulous BRUCE!

Bruce Willis Performs in Northern Iraq
Friday, September 26, 2003

TURSAD, Iraq — It was the perfect setting for an action movie, complete with Humvees (search) and helicopters. Instead, Bruce Willis (search) felt awed -- and a little old.

The star of "Armageddon," "Hart's War" and the "Die Hard" movies, on a goodwill tour of Iraq, visited a remote desert outpost Friday to meet with a small number of U.S. troops monitoring the border with Iran.

Willis walked around the dusty, forward operating base to meet members of the 4th Infantry Division's 1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry who are training Iraqi border guards.

"I feel a lot of pride for these guys out here. If I was a little younger, I would be out here with them," the 48-year-old actor told The Associated Press.

As temperatures soared above 115 degrees, Willis watched as soldiers provided medical treatment for more than 200 Iranians who had tried to cross the sandy wasteland separating Iraq from Iran in this remote village about 85 miles northeast of Baghdad.

The Shiite Muslims had been attempting to enter the country to go on religious pilgrimages to the Iraq holy cities of Najaf and Karbala. Because relations between Iraq and Iran have not stabilized, pilgrims often enter the country illegally, walking for days through the desert.

The U.S. Army has been picking them up, proving food, water and medical treatment and then returning them home.

"Look around," Willis said of the austere conditions faced by the soldiers. "This is old school, this is the cavalry.

"What they are doing here is a good thing, it's a humanitarian thing they are taking care of a lot of these people who are coming out of Iran," Willis said during his visit with the 100 or so members of Crazy Horse Troop.

On Thursday, Willis and his band gave a rock concert for hundreds of soldiers at another Army base about 35 miles from the Syrian border.

The audience -- some sitting atop helicopters, others lounging in Humvees -- sent cheers and whistles into night air as Willis and his band belted out rock 'n' roll and the blues.

Most said they didn't know Willis was a singer, but they approved of what they heard.

"Somebody that supports the military like he has and that comes to visit soldiers -- that's important to us," said Spc. Greg Pagan, a bus driver and a postal officer with the 3rd Brigade of the 101st's Airborne Division in northern Iraq.

"It's awesome. It's great for morale," said Col. Michael Linnington, commander of the brigade's "Iron Rakkasans" -- the 187th Infantry Regiment.

"He's my favorite actor and my age," said Linnington, who turns 45 next week. "He's a macho actor. Soldiers identify with action movies and action actors. He's a guy's guy."

Willis, sometimes donning a military hat or a military jacket over his sweat pants, sang mostly oldies as he and his band -- the Accelerator -- stood atop two flatbed trailer trucks.

"We're here to support you," Willis told the soldiers. "If you catch him, just give me four seconds with Saddam Hussein."

The crowd cheered.

Ever since I got back from 'Nam I've watched war films being made by people who never saw combat, never served, and had no understanding of military values and honor. Most of it was over the top propaganda for the left and rationalization for the cowardice of the protesters who became screenwriters. Then came We Were Soldiers, and now this. Maybe there is hope for this country!

Do I like Bruce Willis flicks? Do bears bear? Do bees bee?

Just wake me when the Moonlighting season 3 dvd is released. And pity the young who went to bed at nine in '80s, who knew not Dave and Maddie.

So, Who is the lucky guy in the photo with Michelle?

She looks great in that photo... (I've always thought she was a beauty since the first time I saw her on TV)... But a lot of the photos around don't do her justice. ... Especially the one on her website which they often run on her syndicated columns too.
They ought to use your photo instead!

The Return Of Bruno!
The articles written by Michael Yon have been fantastic!
If Bruce turns these into a movie about the Duece Four there's no way I won't go see it...
I'll have to put my "The HE** With Hollywood" ban on hold for sure!!

By the way; Yea! Bruce!
I've always been a fan.

Sorry, but Michelle Malkin ALWAYS distracts me. I have had evil thoughts concerning her husband.... ;-)

But I suppose that if I made him 'disappear', She probably wouldn't fall madly in love with me anyway.... :-(
