Poll: Most doubt plan for Iraq victory
CNN ^ | November 30, 2005

As President Bush launched a new effort Wednesday to gain public support for the Iraq war, a new poll found most Americans do not believe he has a plan that will achieve victory.

Just 35 percent wanted to set a specific timetable for their exit, as some critics of the war have suggested.

Among poll respondents, 55 percent said they did not believe Bush has a plan that will achieve victory for the United States in Iraq; 41 percent thought he did.

Asked about Bush's handling of the Iraq war, 54 percent said it was poor, while 44 percent thought he was doing a good job.

Asked if the war will make the United States safer from terrorism in the long run, 48 percent said yes and 43 percent no, within the poll's sampling error.

This is not like WWII where a small group of government officials surrender, and it's all over. Iraq is just a tiny spoke in the wheel, of millions of brainwashed zombie killers all over the world.

I don't know if I can quote the part about how the poll was conducted, see the 5th paragraph, but that bit bascially tells you that their poll's a crock.

Check our Bill Roggio over at Threats Watch:

Up until Roggio went to Iraq he was posting at The Fourth Rail:

His analysis is a good antidote to the extreme negativism of the MSM.

"Just 35 percent wanted to set a specific timetable for their exit"

The American public's plan is the Bush plan. And what happened to the poll one week ago that said 55% believe Bush will succeed in stabilizing Iraq?

My favorite polls are the ones that show everyone supported the war when we got in. Luckily for the Nation, Bush doiesn't have the luxury of changing his mind every month, as does the guy on the street. Seems to me the whole nation bears some moral responsibility for a war they wanted.

Right! People don't trust pollsters, or the media. Remember the "exit pollsters" last November, who said Kerry would win? Instead, Bush painted the map of the U.S. red. Eisenhower was right about the "silent majority". We know that victory over the terrorists is the only acceptable outcome, and we know that Iraq is a huge success for President Bush and America.

The President is winning the argument even in a slanted CNN poll. LOL

nearly six in 10 Americans said U.S. troops should not be withdrawn from Iraq until certain goals are achieved.

This has been one of the arguments he's made the last few weeks.

Just 35 percent wanted to set a specific timetable for their exit, as some critics of the war have suggested.

Another argument won.

606 adult Americans polled

Most good polls use a larger sample.

Those polled were split over whether they think a democratic government can be established in Iraq that won't be overthrown, with 47 percent saying that was likely and 49 percent saying it was not.

So the Dems have no advantage there.

Asked if the war will make the United States safer from terrorism in the long run, 48 percent said yes and 43 percent no, within the poll's sampling error.

BAM. Dems lose here as well.

The President's next offensive is pointing out he has a plan, and detailing the sucess of the Iraqi's. I suspect a few weeks from now those numbers will be different as well.

As this biased sample tells me is that the President is making progress.

The informed, the rational and mature, no longer participate in polls. Guess who the pollsters are defining as "most Americans"?

It's getting pretty bad when even a Frenchmen understands the negative effect of pulling out of Iraq unwisely while CNN and the other French counterparts here in the U.S. don't.

FRENCH DOVE TURNS HAWK ON PULLOUT

http://www.nypost.com/news/worldnews/58663.htm

November 30, 2005 -- PARIS — French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin, one of the harshest critics of the U.S.-led liberation of Iraq, yesterday said Washington should not pull out troops without regard to regional security.

I hope the President engages in a dialog with the American people now

He's already trying, but the MSM spins what he says to fit into the DNC agenda's template.

For example, my Oregonian this morning has the following headline in 1" letters - "Bush Resists Timetable For Iraq: Policy - Responding to mounting pressure, the president provides a glimpse of his strategy for withdrawal."

How can he have an honest dialog with America when the messengers distort what he is saying?

And 90% couldn't locate Iraq on a map. The MSM loves to make news with these polls and make them sound so authoritative. However, you never hear them tout a poll that says prayer ought to be allowed in schools or some other majority public opinion that flys in the face of liberal orthodoxy.

For the past several years, I have started going to the web for my news.

I might here something on "legecy" media, but I always go to the internet so I can get a wider range of views of the story.

An Olds Media story seems like a rough draft until enough FRiendly followups accrete to show me different takes on the topic.

In the last couple weeks I can't get anything but the same garbage from all the typical portals I have used like google or msnbc.

google news seems useful as a research tool for gathering the collective leftist spin on any given event.

Uhh, we've already achieved victory in Iraq. Saddam is out of power, and they've held free elections.

Tuned into CBS news last night to see how they spun the speech. Thoroughly negatively of course...then they went to a piece that dumped on the Iraqis commando units...followed up by the shocking news that our military was placing articlesin Iraqi papers for a fee. What a load of crap...Bush must have the patience of Lincoln (although Lincoln did incarcerate a few politicians during the late unpleasantness).
