CHICAGO, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Chicago police held an 18-year-old self-described Satanist Sunday for allegedly kidnapping two children in a bizarre plot to win back his ex-girlfriend.
David Rodriguez was charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping and ordered held in lieu of $500,000 bail. Prosecutors said he planned get his girlfriend back by carving a pentagram into the chest of a 6-year-old girl.
Authorities said Rodriguez and a 15-year-old boy grabbed the girl and her 8-year-old brother by the wrists Friday as they waited for their mother outside a library and dragged them away. The kidnapped boy was turned loose but the girl was taken to Rodriguez' home, officials said.
The girl's brother was found crying on the street and police were summoned.
The 15-year-old has been charged with aggravated kidnapping and will go through Juvenile Court, police spokesman John Mirabelli said.
Okay, now that's bizarre.
On the bright side, other prisoners tend to take a dim view of this kind of behavior.
I read another article on this yesterday. It claimed that the 15 year old had already set the girl loose when the police got there. Apparently the boy is retar...err, of reduced mental capacity. He's not a satan worshipper per se, he just found some kind of "love spell" that required a sacrifice.
I don't mean to defend the kid, but there's a lot more to this story than is being reported here. If he's mentally retarded and is this incapable of telling right from wrong, he probably does need to be institutionalized, but in a mental lockup, not a prison. The kid needs serious mental help, and because of his retardation needs 24/7 supervision.
Other than a brief scare for everyone involved, nobody was injured by this. Getting the kid proper mental help will be more effective in keeping this from happening again than a prison stay will.
So what about the 18 year old? Was he responsible for his actions?
As a father of two girls, I take a really, really dim view of this ****.
A 15 year old retarded kid had a girlfriend? Is she retarded?
I'm not trying to make light of a persons handicap, but is this true? I have not read about this side of the story. And what would a retarded 15 year old be doing running round the neighborhood with a another youth?
I have a relative who is retarded. He's in his late 20's and lives with his parents. They won't even allow him to roam the neighborhood alone.
I am sceptical, if you haven't noticed.

Well, I just did a little looking and it appears that the first news reports on this may have been off a bit. The 18 year old was the retarded one, and it appears that he may have only given the girl up after his grandfather saw her. The grandfather also made some comments which make it clear that he was, in fact, getting into actual devil worship.
I stand corrected, and just thank God that the little girl wasn't hurt.

Well, if he dies then he will have a better chance of seeing his ex-girlfriend. Assuming she is in hell of course.
