Readers of my NewsBusters entries know that Ellen Ratner, the short end of the "Long & Short of It" feature at Fox & Friends Weekend, has been a frequent object of my ire, as seen here http://newsbusters.org/node/2970, here http://newsbusters.org/node/2062 and here http://newsbusters.org/node/1782.
It's thus saying a mouthful that the puerile performance of pinch-hitter Ellis Henican this morning was almost enough to make one long for the short Ratner. Almost.
Henican took on fellow Newsday columnist Jim Pinkerton, who normally locks horns with Ratner in the segment.
The topic was Iraqi pre-war intelligence. At one point it was noted that Hillary Clinton has posted an item on her web site criticizing the pre-war intelligence provided by the Bush administration and suggesting that if she knew then what she knows now, she might not have supported the war.
Host Julian Phillips, hardly a pro-Bush hack, then hit Henican with this question:
"Didn't [Hillary] also now about intelligence from her husband Bill Clinton when he was in the White House and he was talking about weapons of mass destruction?"
Henican, dropping any fig leaf of gravitas, responded in an animated and utterly jejune tone:
"Julian, I'm so disappointed by you, bringing up all this old, boring tabloid trashy stuff. We've got important issues to talk about today Julian."
Continued Henican in a cynical snivel: "A bunch of Senators allowed themselves to get suckered in, now they've got weasel out from under it. That's politics, man."
Dare I say, "where is Ellen Ratner now that we need her"? Nah.
Is Fox utterly committed to balancing Pinkerton with the worst of the juvenile left?

Puerile Fox & Friends Weekend/NewsBusters ping to the Today show ping list.

I find that priss Henican to be the most obnoxious pro-left individual ever to be on Fox. I wish that some day somebody would just haul off and deck him! For some reason Ann Coulter comes to mind.....
Henican is a punk. What I thought was interesting about what he said was the "that's politics man" thing. Even the smarmiest of the Dem spinsters cannot justify the Dems scrambling around on their Iraq vote and pre-war comments. That is good.
Ellis is a habitual liar, and he knows it.

Great point, and of a piece with Ellen Ratner's admission last week that Dems hide their true [cut-and-run] position on Iraq in order to look tough on national security. Click here for my report on it: http://newsbusters.org/node/2970
Delicious stuff with my coffee first thing in the morning.

You can make more sense out of Daffy Duck than you can Ellis Henican.
"Eh, thanks Doc!"
I can't stand to look at or listen to that idiot! Between his voice and his smarmy style, I get disgusted whenever he's on. O'reilly had him on the other night. Blech!
Mark
i hate to say this but I don''t even know who Ellis Hinkman is. Actually after reading your post I am happy to say that I don't even know who Ellis Hinkman is. :)
Many thanks, Leni. Nice comments like yours are what keep me fighting the acid reflux to bring my fellow FReepers the worst of the MSM!
Hinkman=Hinican
Not necessarily advising it, but if you want to learn more about Henican, here's his offical Fox News bio: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,2116,00.html
Of course it doesn't convey what an obnoxious over-grown teenager he is!
Henican needs to quit inhaling all that hydrogen before coming on these shows.
I thought it was nitrous oxide?
Maybe he mixes it, but his voice sure sounds like it's hydrogen. (Ever tried to talk after inhaling a bit from a hydrogen-filled balloon?)
