"Who is target scaring away by using "Christmas"?"

No one, but it gives them that touchy-feely idea that they are being such good leftist liberals.

Screw Target

Target has a powerful coalition of gay employees who were instrumental in chasing off the Salvation Army, eliminating Christmas references and other anti-family practices that go against the GLBT's interests.

From Target's "diversity" calendar:

June:

Pride Month

Began as Pride Days, held at various times around the United States for gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (GLBT) groups.

All these celebrations were combined into Pride Month.
June was chosen to commemorate the Stonewall protests, a three-day demonstration against discrimination in New York City in June of 1969.

I shop where I am. Yesterday I didn't feel like fighting the traffic around the Wal-mart. And I don't want to hear "Merry Christmas" on December 3, anyway. It's not Christmas.

God Bless your mother....

There are many darlings out there who would stand in terrible weather to pass along the message....

A very Merry Christmas to you and to her and all of your loved ones.

It's very difficult to argue with an 82 year old woman - they have years of experience in diplomacy and "getting their points across" lol.

Well I guess some of us are just more dedicated to our cause and not just to lazy to wait an extra 30 minutes if we have to to deal with those who understand that the majority still rules in this country. Yes it is Christmas this is the Christmas shopping month typically we prepare for this holiday duri ng the month of dec. so that we can be already prepared and done with our shopping on Christmas. Remember the power is in numbers so yes your dollar or two multiplied by many makes that diffrence.

I don't shop in Target anyway...never liked them when there was a store around the corner from me, and now that the nearest one is about 50 miles there is even less reason to shop there.

The Target flyer in today's Ocala newspaper says they have "real Christmas trees in the Garden Center" on the last page of the ad.

Hello,

Christmas of '03, I bought a outdoor basketball hoop for my son at Target. I asked if I could leave it there about 30 minutes ~ until my FIL could pick it up in his truck. I was told NO. When I pressed a manager why not, he stated that it could get stolen. Now, our town is not exactly a hot bed of crime, so this made no sense. I tried in vain to fit the thing into my car. Finally, I marched back in, returned the item, got my refund, drove across the street to Walmart and bought the same item. Walmart gladly put my name on it and held it for pick-up. I have not shopped at Target since.

Glad to be here, MOgirl

I'm like you, but WM happens to be the only large retailer in a 50+ mile radius. I was really amazed at how fast I was in and out of there yesterday. It's a 30 mile round trip and I was home within an hour.

Do you people have nothing better to do than to whine about the term "Christmas" and your precious Christmas trees, and Christmas presents and lights that have NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BIRTH OF OUR SAVIOR?

I am so sick of Christians making an issue out of this. Jesus drove the buyers and the sellers out of the temple and you are PO'd because they won't let you rebuild the temple in aisle 13.

THAT SAID...look at the calendar. It is not an inclusive holiday calendar. It's a diversity calendar.

Not only does it not include Christmas, it does not include Valentines Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Halloween or Thanksgiving.

WHY? Because that's not it's intended purpose. While there may be issues with Target having such a PC calendar, there is NOT an issue with "Christmas."

This is such an incredibly stupid argument.

Is your God so small that he's overpowered by a retail department store?

Maybe you should be praying for more faith rather than whining about those who won't display your faith for you.

If you do work at Target, you should contact your corporate superiors and let them know that I will not patronize them this year because of disgaceful treatment of the Salvation Army. Shame on them.

Target has a policy not to allow ANY solicitations at their door. Go look at their website. They have a specific page dedicated to the support of the Salvation Army.

""Target employees are forbidden to use the word Christmas by their management."
That is absolutely not true. I work at Target and received an e-mail sent out by the corporate office that specifically said employees are free to wish customers a "Merry Christmas" if they want to but are not required to."

It doesn't matter if it's not true. The grumpy among us keep saying it's true, so there it is. The truth is not a defense against such folks, who won't be happy until the only words out of your mouth are "Merry Christmas."

You do know that the Salvation Army is partnered with Target for relief efforts for the hurricane victims, don't you?
