STORRS, Connecticut (AP) -- Conservative columnist Ann Coulter cut short a speech at the University of Connecticut amid boos and jeers, and decided to hold a question-and-answer session instead.
"I love to engage in repartee with people who are stupider than I am," Coulter told the crowd of 2,600 Wednesday.
Before cutting off her speech after about 15 minutes, Coulter called Bill Clinton an "executive buffoon" who won the presidency only because Ross Perot took 19 percent of the vote.
Coulter's appearance prompted protests from several student groups. About 100 people rallied outside the auditorium where she spoke, saying she spread a message of intolerance.
"We encourage diverse opinion at UConn, but this is blatant hate speech," said Eric Knudsen, a 19-year-old sophomore journalism and social welfare major who heads campus group Students Against Hate.

Where'd you get 5 from? it says over a hundred were outside protesting. I imagine they could have removed the 5 inside if that was all there were doing the heckling. And if those weren't removed then I'd say the university doesn't get a pass for allowing that kind of behavior from their students.
Of course, I'm more concerned with the inner person than any outward signs of physical attractiveness and so I missed her skeltal features completely.
If I were intelligent, attractive, and a gifted public speaker with a great sense of humor I could do her job.
Also give her a directed microphone that transmits what she says to noise-cancelling headsets worn by those in the audience who want to listen.
I know it would still be difficult to talk, and to hear what she said, but the hecklers should have been forced to work longer and harder.
Maybe Bose should donate a good number of their headsets to Ann.

Wrong - I was there for her appearance and my son is a freshman at UConn.
About 1/3 of those 2000 students were EXTREMELY agitated against her, loudly chanting "You Suck, You Suck, You Suck" for several minutes, many yelling "You're a whore" at the top of the lungs and just generally ruining any chances for hearing an opposing point of view.
It was disgusting and an embarrassment to that university.
There were of course some supporters of Ann, but they were far outnumbered by this bunch of bigoted, hateful, arrogant and incredibly stupid "students".
Scares me to think this is our next generation of leaders coming out of what is considered a rather prestigious school among public universities.

Why do people say she is good looking?
1. Many of us haven't seen it yet.
2. Many of us love Ann and how she is able to slam demonrats with no mercy, and in fact, can't see or hear enough of it.
So why worry how many times it has been posted?
No one from the UConn management took any action at all against any of these students other than to remove the one person with a very loud boom box after he had drowned her speech our for nearly 5 minutes and yeah it took them that long to figure out who had the boom box in an auditorium where no bags, cameras or anything at all was allowed in and where every single person was hang frisked upon entering.
So how did the boom box get inside you ask? Good question - obviously an inside job and the sick little bastard was only ejected, no other action taken.
As for the HUNDREDS of hecklers, no one took any action at all. I was sitting about 50 feet back from the stage, completely surrounded by these hateful little @ssholes. It felt like a KKK rally except here the conservatives were the sub-humans about to be lynched. Not a pretty scene at all.

Reading posts from a couple people who attended, it sounded like chaos. Check for posts by 'chudogg'..... they attempted to shout her down, and also blared a boombox over her talking. She cut short her address and went to the QandA.
That remark is not a way to win people over.....away from the dark side....
