Shays, a strong supporter of President Bush's tax cuts, said killing the estate tax would not produce any significant economic incentives.

Noooo....but it would get the government out of the pockets of dead people, and allow accumulated wealth to pass on to the deceased's family. "Economic incentives" have nothing to do with the perpetuation of an evil tax policy.

Now here is the arrogant attitude of Washington about TAKING OUR MONEY. They won't let us keep what IS OURS because doing so does nothing FOR THEM. Now how is that for an excuse to keep stealing our money VIA THE ESTATE TAX, (THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN TAXED)...

Watch out for the "main Street Republicans" they are partially funded by George Soros.

These RINOS are traitors to the party and the leadership needs to slap them down immediately. Nothing good can come of letting them think they can go their own way.

As a supply sider, I disagree with your analysis. The estate tax does indeed destroy economic incentive. All taxes do.

My point as well. Why should there be a compelling "economic incentive" reason for people to keep their own money? Shays' attitude is that all money belongs to the government, and it's only by the good graces of the government in its infinite wisdom that it allows people to keep any for themselves. This kind of arrogance makes me sick.

These RINOS are liberals. So what is new? TAX, OVER-REGULATE, TAKE YOUR LIBERTIES, CONTROL YOUR LIFE.

A socialist by any other name...?

"If ANWR is in, we're out."

That is not being "moderate." It is just plain being stupid.

Exactly. Right out of the Communist Manifesto. Now tell me Washington is not TOTALLY out of control. Where did the American government go??? I don't see it anywhere.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. If it doesn't provide much economic incentive, then it must not provide much economic gain for the feds, so why not just get rid of it and simplify the system to boot.

The Republican moderates do, indeed, have THE power -- the power to determine whether they want the Republicans to be the majority party in Congress or the minority one.

It appears that you accept Shay's argument that the estate tax does not destroy economic activity, but you still favor repealing the estate tax on other grounds. You should not accept Shay's argument.

These liberal ("moderate") Republicans need to be defeated at the grass roots level. But first, the RNC and the various state GOP organizations need to be told in no uncertain terms that they better stay out of the way, and they BETTER NOT use donations from people like me to fund the campaigns of these scumbag "moderates". Or the donations stop.
