To make such an argument, you must have never read the Declaration of Independence.

It clearly reads as a contract that has been broken by the crown. The colonies didn't actually want to challenge the British government and were actively seeking reconciliation. When all attempts failed--and they knew they were already living outside of governmental authority--they asserted their right to self-rule as an alternative to no governmental representation.

I must apologize for not being good at executions. I've asked politely many times, but they keep declining my offer of service to throw the switch. In fact, I'm prohibited from even practicing.

It's out of my hands, truly.

Did Ahnold just announce he would give his decision after the car chase on FOX concludes?

"He's going to get clemency. There's no way he's going to get on television with this kind of news if it's going to make his supporters unhappy... Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm guessing he would have made the decision, informed the warden, and released a simple statement to the press if the execution is going to go through..."

I'm thinking he is going to piss people off either way so he will do what is right - if he is pro-death penalty then this is a case that really calls for death -I'm betting no clemency.

"But you would personally "execute" (in self defense, but execute nonetheless) someone before he committed murder. How do you know for sure he was going to murder your child? He may have had no real intention to do it, so you would have killed a man who was only there to rob you. You would not allow the state to do it after he committed murder. It is infinitely worse after he committed the act. Why do you think you deserve the power of God but the state doesn't deserve it?"

It's a judgment call on my part, then, isn't it. If I'm wrong, then that will be hanging over my head. It would be my responsibility to bear...nobody else's.

It would not be my assuming the power of some deity. It would be a purely human reaction in an immediate situation. That's very different. I don't claim any godlike powers. I'm just a guy. I'm often armed. I hope such a situation never arises. If it does, I will act on a decision made at that time in reaction to an immediate situation. Might I make a mistake? Certainly. If I do, I have no doubt I will regret it. Even if I do not make a mistake, I would still regret taking someone's life.

If Arnold has any compassion at all, he'll wait until the high speed chase is over before saying Hasta La Vista to Tookie.

LOL! This is ridiculous. Like there is nothing more important in life to cover.

Oh Geez, they are bringing in the "experts" now, for a car chase.

News at an all time low.

I have to wonder if the reason Arnold didn't make his decision, or announcement, was because he was waiting for the court's decision?

"watch out musicman, doug's got some lyrics"

I'll bet he does, and they are probably pretty darn funny like the other "tunes" he posts.

(IMHO.....DON'T let DFU know that almost everybody on FR really likes his contributions here, wether it is music or Doug's almost unbelieveable work to get the REAL word out about Queen Hillary and "Tookie",etc.....cause he might get a swelled head and think he's too good to post here....so again, IMHO, we should keep the praises and thank you stuff real low key....)

Leave it to fox to have that Fox News Alert "swooshing bell" sound and keep viewers hanging on.

Then follow it up with news about a cat stuck in tree.

I hope you are right. If he doesnt give clemency, than i am glad he delayed his decision. Less time to appeal to US Supreme Court. Unfortunatly, I think he is going to give clemency for this same reason. If his mind was made earlier and it was to reject clemency, he would have made this public to allow 1 last chance at appeal. Perhaps this political novice will impress us but I am not counting on it.

Used to, not anymore, they use it so much, I'm desensitized now. They'll do a Fox New Alert if Brit Hume farts.

Well if the emperor gives thumbs down the riots can start early.

History Channel Trivia: Contrary to popular opinion, "thumbs down" indicated that the emperor wanted to spare the gladiators life. (Thumb down meant put the weapon down, Thumb UP meant stick it in his neck!)

Not anymore. "Special Report" and "Breaking News" used to mean something, but not since they started using them for weather-related events that could be picked up on local TV or on The Weather Channel, etc.
