Governor Declines To Stop Williams Execution
http://www.nbc4.tv/news/5512016/detail.html ^

Posted on 12/12/2005 12:42:27 PM PST by lunarbicep

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger refused Monday to spare the life of Stanley Tookie Williams, the founder of the murderous Crips gang who awaited execution after midnight in a case that stirred debate over capital punishment and the possibility of redemption on death row.

Schwarzenegger was not swayed by pleas from Hollywood stars and petitions from more than 50,000 people who said that Williams had made amends during more than two decades in prison by writing a memoir and a series of children's books about the dangers of gangs.

With a reprieve from the federal courts considered unlikely, Williams, 51, was set to die by injection at San Quentin State Prison early Tuesday for murdering four people in two 1979 holdups.

I guess it`s bye-bye Tookie time.

I`ve been scared the Gov. would cave on this.

He showed a lot of backbone in this case.He was and still is under a lot of pressure from those leftist bleeding hearts trying to save this vicious killer.

Yes, perhaps the run for the electronics and jeans might begin soon? I know a flat screen tv would improve my feelings by a considerable margin. And who can beat the price? Not even the Wiz!

Bring on the club wielding LA police

Nothing like a good old fashioned HICKORY SHAMPOO to ease the tension!

they'll be rioting shortly.

Just like the people that thought Schwarzenegger would grant Williams clemency, you're wrong.

This decision will be a real shot in the arm for Arnold's poll numbers.

Now,Mr Williams, you have two important advantages over your victims:

1)You,unlike them, have time to make peace with your Creator. You'd be wise to take advantage of this opportunity.

2)You'll die a far more peaceful, and dignified, death than did your victims.

They keep quoting his books, but reality is, the total number of his books that ever sold, might reach 1000.... not that it would matter anyway.. .he KILLED 4 people, that he was convicted of, lord knows how many others.. the gangs he helped create murder thousands of people every year....

Get out of here with he's made ammends.

If he were a real man, who made ammends he's accept his fate, and ask for forgiveness... something this sack of $*&$ has never done.

Just curious -- I wonder how much 1) Tookie's years in prison; 2) his many appeals; 3) his court-appointed lawyers; 4) the Lord only knows what else has cost the State of California? Maybe that's the reason California is so deep in the red.

How do you "make amends" for murdering someone?

Good call by the Governator!

"We pretended he had always been a writer," famed author Jerzy Kosinski said. In other words, Abbott had always been a criminal.

Amazing how history repeats itself, isn't it? I'm glad it won't happen again in this instance. Thanks for posting this, because I forgot about Abbott.
