Going Medieval
National Review Online ^ | 13 December 2005 | James S. Robbins

One hears a lot about the Crusades when studying the terrorist threat, and almost exclusively in the form of an accusation. These centuries-old conflicts are raised whenever someone, whether from the region or not, seeks to activate the Western guilt complex. We have to understand this conflict from their point of view, one is told. Memories are long in the region. The time of Saladin is as though yesterday. Had the Europeans (and by extension Americans) not started it all with the Crusades, we might not have the problems we face today.

O.K., but what about their crusade? We are accustomed to looking at maps that show an area called “the Muslim world,” stretching from West Africa across the Middle East to Southeast Asia, as though this always has been and must be; but before the time of Mohammed these same areas were Christian, Jewish, Hindu, or Zoroastrian, among others. How did they make the switch, and what happened when they did? This is the topic The Legacy of Jihad: Islamic Holy War and the Fate of Non-Muslims a new anthology edited by Andrew G. Bostom. This exhaustive, 759-page tome contains both primary-source material and interpretive essays, dating from the earliest period of Muslim expansion to the present day. One learns very quickly that the caliphate was established not by evangelism but by the sword, and the non-Muslims who were subjected to the rule of the caliphs were either forced to convert, allowed to live as social inferiors under a religious caste system called dhimmitude, or simply killed outright.

Yeah, I am one of those nerds who like to read big, thick books.

I like the books with the big, thick words and the chewy, tough pages.

the classical Muslim theologians and jurists writing on topics of the necessity of expansion, the legality of war, and the legitimate ways in which people may be enslaved
Islam is the continuation of the worst of the Medieval World into modern times.

..yet they still want their people to live as if it's Medieval times..i.e. running water is a rarity as is electricity, poverty is high for the majority of the populations, and they rule by fear and intimidation.

Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend.

Inside a dog, it's too dark to read.

"Any place that became Muslim had to stay Muslim"

"Muslim's Rules of Ownership"

1. If a Muslim likes it, it's Muslim.

2. If it's in a Muslim's hand, it's Muslim.

3. If a Muslim can take it from you, it's Muslim.

4. If a Muslim EVER had it, it's Muslim.

5. If it was ever owned by a Muslim, it must never appear to be yours in any way.

6. If a Muslim is doing or building something, all the pieces are Muslim.

7. If it looks just like one owned by a Muslim, it's Muslim.

8. If a Muslim think it's his, it's Muslim.

9. If it's yours and a Muslim steals it, it's Muslim.

10. If Mohammed tied his horse there, it's Muslim.

This week, the Seattle Times is preaching to us about how the poor Muslims are so oppressed and misunderstood by the evil Christians. Typical liberal I'm-smarter-than-all-you-bigots arrogance. For example, they had a little quiz - intended to show how our assumptions about Islam are all wrong - by asking which country first gave women the right to vote: China, Switzerland, France, or Turkey. The answer, if you haven't guessed, is Turkey (under the secularizing Ataturk), the only Muslim country in the group. Of course, the USA gave women the right to vote before Turkey did, but that fact wouldn't have illustrated the point they were trying to make.

I actually heard a commie lib on Pacifica radio make the antiChristian statement that we only need to look to the Crusades to see the horror of Christianity, that it is spread by the sword.

NO mention of Islamonazism was made. NO mention of the spread of Islamonazism to Spain (the Western Capital of Islamic states).

Mohammed's death cult aped the Judeo-Christian Bible. Those who (Wrongly) claim that the lands have always been muslim just reveal their prejudices.

There was no Islam before Mohammed. So we are left to ask, what RELIGION/POLITICAL SYSTEM did these people follow before Mohammed put a sword to their throats?

I like the fat pencils that second graders use. And while we're at it, can you imagine how good penmanship would be if we all still used the paper with the dotted middle line?

Funny. These are the same things ANARCHISTS want for the world. I think we now know why they have partnered with the enemy in this global war.

That is because they have made zero intelectual or cultural progress since the 12th century.

It's alright. It took me ten days to read the entire Lord of the Rings and all I could think was "man, that took a long time..."

You're in good company.

I believe that an Imam on Ask The Imam one time responded that America was such a wealthy and prosperous country because Allah put all of these riches here for muslims and that one day it shall be theirs. When "the Great Satan" is removed of course...

Everything belongs to the Muslims. They just haven't taken actual posession, yet. And if you deny them what is "theirs", they will simply kill you.
