Due to copy right, the contents cannot be posted but here is the jist of the story. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has been a cesspool of corruption for YEARS where promotions are routinely sold to the most favored political contributor. Recently it was revealed that at least 41 of the 850 odd TH patrolmen are FELONS yet still remain on the payroll presumably because they have political connections.
Now, DemocRat carpetbagger Gov. Phil Bredesen has come up with a solution, issue a $100,000 to $200,000 no bid contract to a consulting firm that contributed $12,500 to Bredesen's re-election campaign!
Bredesen won't be back. But at least he got rid of the albatross called TennCare.
No he ddn't. We still have it.
Tenncare is alive and sucking the life out of the state.
Well, you know...that's true! I keep hearing people complaining about the cuts, yet Bredesen keeps extending the benefits and finding more money to keep it going for an additional 30, 60, 90 days.
Bredesen probably won't be back because all the Tenncare freeloaders will come out in droves and vote against him.
However, Bredesen also got rid of the RINO named Sundquist, aka "Taxquist", who spent his terms repeatedly trying to push through a state income tax. The state income tax, if inacted, would have defied the state Constitution which strictly forbids a state income tax. It was only after many, very vocal demonstrations at the State Capital that the idea was withdrawn in defeat. (for now)
The funny thing is we've been almost 4 years now here in the great state of Tennessee without Taxquist, his forecast of financial doom and gloom and his beloved state income tax and the state hasn't gone bankrupt like Taxquist said it would.
With Republicans like Taxquist, who needs Democrats?
Are you listening, RNC?
I'm not sure that all of the 41 troopers with criminal convictions were actually felons, but the point is that we have state cops out there who wouldn't pass a background check to even buy a pistol, much less carry one. And we're all supposed to "respect the badge"?
Ok, I'll grant you that, but Bredesen ran his campaign against the notion of the need for a state income tax. This was, shall we say, very uncommon for a typical Tennessee DemocRat and as such made it much, much more difficult for the 'Pubbies to field a pro-tax candidate.
Bredesen's plan was, and always has been to do exactly what Sundquist did....get the income tax in for his second term.
Pharoh Phil strikes again.
Really? I hadn't heard that and I generally pay attention to such things in an effort to preserve the thickness of my wallet. Doesn't matter to me anyway, I wouldn't vote for any Tennssee DemocRat anyway.....
He was quite vocal about not pusing an income tax in his last campaign, but got VERY cagey when asked if he would consider it in a second term.
Yep, Bredesen specifically said that he wouldn't seek an income tax "IN HIS FIRST TERM". If he is re-elected and the GOP can't gain control of the House or Senate, it will be four more years of the General Assembly trying to spend the state into a crisis where the only "solution" (accordint to the 'Rats) will be to institute a state income tax and to hell with the THREE previous state Supreme Court rulings that declared it unconstitutional.
C'mon, now, BoT, you know TN 'Rats aren't obligated to follow the law. ;-)
This guy has the arrogance to stand pat and boldly display his corruption!?!?!?
