An e-mail address of a former state Democratic Party worker was used in a discussion about Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley's marriage on a conservative Web site, a spokesman for the site said yesterday.
Kristinn Taylor, a spokesman for free republic.com, said Ryan O'Doherty's Democratic Party address was one of at least three used to operate the identity of MD4BUSH, the mysterious Internet poster who appears to have coaxed an aide to Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. into talking about the mayor's personal life.
MD4BUSH sought out another freerepublic visitor known as ncpac, who was later revealed to be longtime Ehrlich political aide Joseph F. Steffen Jr.
Steffen confirmed to a Washington Post reporter in February that he wrote the e-mails discussing O'Malley rumors. But after publishing several articles, the Post acknowledged that the reporter, Matthew Mosk, had logged on as MD4BUSH from his work computer to verify the exchange, further complicating the story.
Taylor said the latest information about e-mail addresses - which the Web site previously refused to release citing privacy rules - indicates that the Ehrlich aide was unfairly targeted by the governor's opponents.
"I think people ought to be concerned that political operatives and Washington Post reporters will violate your Internet privacy for their own nefarious purposes," Taylor said.

Walker, the Democratic spokesman, said the timing of Robinson's message and the leak about the MD4BUSH e-mail addresses is suspicious. It comes two days after a former state employee testified to a special committee that the Ehrlich administration dispatched Steffen to fire state workers because of their political affiliations.
"They're trying to derail the entire review process by the legislature by dribbling out something that is not new news," Walker said.

Interesting. Implicit in your explanation is that MD4BUSH was monitoring FR.
I guess once he saw the Moniker of NCPAC he got motivated.
Comments from Democrat spokesmen questioning the timing of things - priceless.
@@@@@
They reveal their private thoughts every time!!!!! Don't you just love their projection.
I'm tempted to bet my entire portfolio that the Baltimore Sun Papers will not report on this follow up story. . .
"They're trying to derail the entire review process by the legislature by dribbling out something that is not new news," Walker said.
This is SOP "big bad wolf attack" by the dems. Otherwise known as a "first stage, class 5, full roaming vapor". The "threat". And that if you (FR) don't back off, the big bad wolf (Dems) are going to blow your house away.
LOL!!!
Simply stunning. You run a website. Dems plant a dirty trick. Repub guy gets axed. Facts (those gnarly things) continue to reveal the set-up by Maryland Dems. Dem party then begins "obliquely" worded threats against a website owner/operator.
This is not how the "not-guilty" behaves. The "not-guilty" behaves in ways that say: Prove your facts. That's what the "not-guilty" do.
It is so predictable as to give credence to the statement that liberalism is a mental disease. It is a trait we all have because we naturally see the world through our own lens of experience, but with them it is scary.
Yes, it is. I studied parapsychology for a number of years, from the scientific end. Before I moved onto other studies, I was studying "OBE" -- "out of body experiences" material. Dem psychology continues to show me that they are out of their bodies, and think they are experiencing transcendental "data" about life. In fact what they are experiencing is merely an "inner drama" perspective, but calling it reality.
I'm grateful we are not all on the same "plane" as they are.
I am not as grateful as you. Is there a way to escape it short of suicide? :-)
Major Bumpity Bump!
So the O'Mally camp will use wild-eyed posts that are not representative of FR to tarnish FR. What will their message be?
"Yeah, our guy signed up at that wacky website. He bad-mouthed MO'M. He even called Senator Mikulski a lesbian. And to the point, he did target Steffan and deceived the Washington Post. But he did it at that crazy website. It doesn't matter."
That's their defense?
Oh. I see. "Somebody" used "somebody's" email address. The fact that it was the email address of a Democrat activist doesn't seem to set off any alarm bells for this "journalist".
Well, well...
We expect full coverage of this from The Baltimore Sun [irony, sarcasm alert].
Democrat spokesman Walker knows exactly how the addresses were outed.
Those addresses were leaked to/by WBAL for some Democrat purpose, which isn't yet clear.
These Democrat Operatives in MD are ingenious ... I'd bet several have been conversing with each other, using derogatory terms to make FR look bad and using yahoo.com to cover their tracks.
