You DO have the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.

I used to think that.

But Nope.

Dang lawsuits.

When I was in Italy I had to learn to order things in Italian or point.

When I was a visiting professor in Turkey, every day I'd go through the cafeteria line and point to what I wanted (everything was behind glass and a server put it in a dish and handed it to you). Towards the end of the semester I was going through the line talking to an English-speaking colleague. One of the servers said (in Turkish) that it was the first time all semester he'd heard my voice. My collegue translated the remark. I replied that I didn't know the Turkish names for the various food items, so I had to point.

I am SO glad to be in the latter years of my life and not the early years. I would not want to be growing up in the America of today.

Coward. I'm sorry, but I've heard this out of some otherwise nice older folks and it disgusts me.

Who the hell was running the country from the time you were growing up until your latter years?

HINT: YOU PEOPLE WERE

I know the "greatest generation" did good things, and that today's younger generation has its work to do, but this selfish "I'm on may way out so eff it" attitude is really low.

In Columbus the sign should have read: "For service speak 'crack'".

I see NO problem here. The owner doesn't speak Spanish otherwise he would have put a "Se Habla Espanol" sign at the friggin' window. Si o no? Yes or no?

It is I, Kenservatized. I am an island hopper and I am proud to be a conservative American. I am an Army brat so I have lived all over the US and overseas. I have no accent anymore. I speak English. I am with y'all. Yes - I've been to the South, too.

ACLU? Screw 'em!

PC police? Screw 'em!

The SOB who has a problem with that damn sign? SCREW 'EM!

Here is a much better article and doesn't require a subscription.

Admin Moderator, would it be possible to switch out the articles and the link since the Cincinnati Enquirer one doesn't require a subscription?

Ironically, if you check out their members list on their website, you'll be shocked (shocked!) to discover that the diversity-worshipping Ohio Civil Rights Commission couldn't find a single Caucasian to serve on its panel.

Just my opinion. Sorry it upsets you so to hear things that you don't agree with, but that's how I feel. Calling me names won't change my mind and won't change the world we live in. I admit we screwed the world up, you'll get no argument from me on that. I know you and your generation are much smarter and hard working than my generation and I apologize for leaving you such a world. We did the best we could, but sometimes things don't work out like we planned.

Where is your sense of adventure and independence? These are GREAT times to be alive. Very exciting, quick communications, yet idiots abound! God is in charge of the outcome, meanwhile we get front-row seats.

We had a bar here that had a sign that said "No Colors".

Of course the local "everything pisses me off crowd" complained loudly about how this wasn't the sixtes, Rosa Parks, yada, yada.

So the local rag sent in a reporter to expose the racists and right the wrongs of the South.

The reporter found that the sign was aimed at gang members - No Colors.

The bar owner said he put up a sign during football season that says "Michigan sucks".

The guy just likes signs.

Thanks for the sentiment. A short sentence gives little chance to communicate all your thoughts. Saying that you're sorry that this generation has a big mess to start from is nicer than saying you're glad you are done with it.

It's not a good attitude for us to follow, and if you'll forgive me, it's not a healthy attitude for any person at any age.

Besides, I've inherited salt-and-pepper shakers with more reverence than some people are bequeathing America to the next generation! Is America the greatest gift, or is it trash to be rid of?

I wish you a Merry Christmas, and an improved New Year.

"No "civil rights" commission is ever going to rule in favor of a real American doing what he wants in his own business. He broke no laws. But he was very un-PC. That's a crime in America today."

Your post is sarcasm, right? The rights of real Americans to do what they want in their own businesses, and homes for that matter, is being compromised with ever-increasing frequency. PC, which was nothing more than a joke when it first arrived on the scene, is fast becoming the law of the land. It is absolutely disgusting that a handful of godless, socialist tyrants are dictating law and public policy to the former land of the free and that the citizens of the former home of the brave haven't got the guts to eradicate them and to ignore their demands of servitude.

I hope he has a strong group of supporters in the community. I think his sign is dead on. I want very much to put a bumper sticker on my car that reads "Speak English or Go Home."

"Ok, would somebody please explain to me which of those categories the tavern owner supposedly violated."

Apparently there is one that says "thou shalt not annoy illegals."
