“Thank you Jimmy Carter”--Carter Agrees With Bush Spying

U.S.OFFICIALS DEFINE POLICY ON SEARCHES; Lawyers Assert President Still Has 'Inherent Authority' to Order Entries Without Warrants 'Concurrent Jurisdiction' 1978 Executive Order Cited No 'Foreign Connections' Found By ROBERT PEAR Special to The New York Times. New York Times (1857-Current file). New York, N.Y.: Nov 9, 1980. pg. 35, 1 pgs

WASHINGTON, Nov. 8--Justice Department lawyers say that the President still has the "inherent authority" to order searches without warrants to collect foreign intelligence within the United States, despite the criminal conviction this week of two former officials of the Federal Bureau of Investigation who said they had approved such searches in 1972 and 1973.

An executive order issued by President Carter in January 1978 established the standard that governs the use of searches for intelligence purposes today. Such searches, it said, ‘’shall not be undertaken against a United States person without a judicial warrant, unless the President has authorized the type of activity involved and the Attorney General has both approved the particular activity and determined that there is probable cause to believe that the United States person is an agent of a foreign power.'’

'He used the same powers, that's all. '

"He is NOT coming out and endorsing what President Bush is doing."

Exactly right. So why isn't he? Besides the obvious --he hates Bush----but how canhe get around this??

And, please excuse my ignorance, but in all this reading I have been doing on this it seems rather clear that no law was broken,
so can someone explain why such outrage? Not even just outrage, because the left is always outraged about something, but why even this much discussion?
If it is here right in front of us---what is up for debate?
What am I missing?

The Dems don't need a reason to attack President Bush. When there aren't any justified reasons, they manufacture them, hoping that something will stick.

The Dems put their quest for power above truth, honesty, integrity, national security, the lives of the American people and even above the very existence of the US.

"After what commie carter did to this country..."

commie carter did the bidding of David Rockefeller - one man from the west who had carte blanche at the Kremlin during the darkest days of the cold war, and probably still does have it.

FISA specifically has a section, which says you don't need to go through FISA, i.e. the President has the executive power to order the searches.

That section applies only to non-"U.S. persons". For U.S. persons, some form of probable cause is required.

Watch the layoffs that will be coming to these fish wraps and the Faux news divisions of ABCNNBCBS in the next few years.

When the left wing controlled/owned mutual funds stop buying and owning these enron type of stocks, their free fall will be awesome.

One can hear ol' horseface intoning that, "If GWB is allowed to have the authority to surveil US citizen contacts with our friends its opponents in foreign lands, the next JFK could end up like Aldrich Aimes, in jail for life with no chance of parole!"

"The Rockefellas' are a pack of DEVILS..."

I do not disagree - and I suggest there are few exceptions. They are offspring of the DEVIL!

Just looking at the original John Rockefeller...he was a really creepy looking little guy. I believe he could have early on made a pack with the devil including all generations forward. Well...earth is a short journey compared to all of eternity....a scary thought.

Most of the time, I refer to it as the Compost. To keep things straight and accurate when talking about its stock, it is WPO or Washington Post.

Get me the names and stock symbols of conservative newspapers and I will run them and post them.

I live in California, and I don't know of a conservative newspaper.

Seriously if you have any, please Freepmail me the name of the controlling company, their papers and stock symbols.
