Democratic Party executive resigns (Josh White - Claim: Not over MD4Bush)
Baltimore Sun ^ | 12/24/05 | David Nitkin

Posted on 12/24/2005 12:55:14 AM PST by conservative in nyc

Josh White, who took over daily operations of a dispirited Maryland Democratic Party after the Republican gubernatorial victory in 2002, is leaving the organization nine months before next year's primary.

A widely respected political professional, White, 38, was hired in 2003 as executive director, but lost the title after Terry Lierman replaced Isiah Leggett as party chairman last year.

White declined yesterday to give a reason for his departure but said he was leaving at the end of the year. Party offices in Annapolis are closed next week, meaning White's duties have effectively ended.

"I'm just looking forward to doing something else," he said, adding that he planned to stay in Maryland in another political or campaign position. "I am still going to be working to put Democrats in office and take back Maryland," White said.

White leaves as Republicans and conservatives continue to seek the identity of MD4Bush, the anonymous Internet poster who created an online identity and began discussing rumors about Mayor Martin O'Malley's personal life with another message board visitor who was an aide to Ehrlich.

The aide, Joseph F. Steffen Jr., resigned, and apologized to O'Malley. But disclosure of Steffen's activities in several state agencies led to a legislative probe of whether Ehrlich was firing relatively low-level state workers for political reasons.

A conservative Web site, free republic.com, recently disclosed that one of the e-mail addresses used to operate MD4Bush was rodoherty@mddems.org, the same e-mail address as former party communications director Ryan O'Doherty, who used to work with White.

Democratic Party officials say they do not know who MD4Bush is and have questioned the authenticity of O'Doherty's e-mail address on freerepublic.com. They said White's departure is not tied to questions about the online poster.

An allegedly successful political director resigns on a slow news day when nobody is watching. He doesn't appear to have another job lined up.

And Derek Walker seems to be changing his tune - "The party had nothing to do with MD4Bush. There is no way to know what every member of the party does"

How much would you be willing to bet Josh White had something to do with the MD4Bush saga?

As always, more at the link.

???
They are questioning "the authenticity of O'Doherty's e-mail address on freerepublic.com"? What on earth does that mean?

And if they mention he left "to pursue other opportunities" or "to spend more time with family" - the 'NON-reasons' touted for departure are probably closer to the truth than the 'reasons' are.

My guess - they're claiming someone other than Ryan O'Doherty (or a person connected with the party) changed the e-mail address on file with FR to rodohery@mddems.org. Remember - the account was originally registered to ryanrock2004@yahoo.com.

Jim Robinson hasn't released the date of the changes to the e-mail address - they may coincide with the date Matthew Mosk of the WaPo started snooping here (which could make O'Doherty his intermediary "source", not MD4Bush). I'm also curious whether the arsonist has ever returned to the scene of the fire after his FReepmail dumps.

In a nutshell, they are saying FR is lying about the email address.

Standard Demonicrat tactic, bring into question the integrity of the person/s making the charge so you can blunt the damage from the accusation

He helped the party establish an online voter database that was recently completed.

Judging from your technical incompetence so far, that database is undoubtably a piece of crap.

"He had been here for quite a while, and this has been a high-burnout job," Walker said.

It's great to see the newspaper quoting your boss damning you with faint praise, Mr. Burn-Out Case.

Thanks!

"..They said White's departure is not tied to questions about the online poster..."

Translation, his departure is directly tied to it. They are trying to distance the party from fallout from the affair. Whatever they say they are worried.

Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich (R) banned his Maryland State Officials from talking to and one other Baltimore Sun reporter after repeated, unfounded, egregious attacks on the Governor and his administration. The Baltimore Sun even sued the administration in a claimed right to interrogate Maryland State Officials. The Baltimore Sun's supposed "subpoena power" was dismissed. Ironically, the Baltimore Sun turned around and banned their reporters from talking to WBAL radio when the Baltimore Sun's actual and continuing misdeeds were reported and discussed on WBAL talk radio! WBAL radio has not claimed any right to subpeona reporters to my knowledge.

David Nitkin must be fuming as he writes this stuff.

Gov. Ehrlich is a good person and a strong candidate.

The democrat motto is "if you can't beat them, cheat" seems to be in play here.

It means, "Deny, deny, deny." Even if they really believe that the email address is legitimate, they will still publicly question "the authenticity of O'Doherty's e-mail address on freerepublic.com" in order to plant the seeds of doubt in others.

It's not what they believe, it's what they can get others to believe.
