Google Mocks Christ on Christmas Eve
Confederate Yankee ^

While trying to find a nativity image for my last post before Christmas, I did an search for "baby jesus" on Google.
This is the result.
Notice that the top search result is for a sex toy that mocks Jesus.
Other results on this search results page have more link traffic.
A quick review of page's code shows no HTML meta information that should give it a favorable ranking.
The page itself has a raw relevance ranking (search word divided by total words) of less than five percent.
The only conclusion I can draw is that this page position ranking was done manually by a Google staffer.
Google's message to the Faithful seems obvious:
"Merry Christmas, a******s."

Yes! You too can be one of the 19 people on the internet who use Ask Jeeves!
Seriously, though, Google is vastly more popular than all other search engines combined because it is so good at what it does. The fact that people spend so much time and effort "Google bombing", as it's called, shows just how important Google is. The fact that a small number of people have successfully Google bombed a small number of phrases is irrelevant to the fact that Google brings me exactly the information I need it to 95% of the time.

Thank you for the advice. You make a good point.
I was interested in getting a cross section of views about google's search engine; and to learn some more details of search engines.
I believe that their news selections are generally very liberal and if one wants multiple points of view, one has to go elsewhere...like to FR.

If you search with SafeSearch set to "strict filtering" under preferences, you will not get this. You should always have strict filtering turned on -- unless you are sometimes looking for porn.

"The Google doodle is more offensive than the search results. They didn't even use a christmas tree for crying out loud. It's so, so, generic!"
You're seriously offended by the fact that Google didn't put up a picture you thought they should? ...
Pray tell, just how large a percentage of Google's stock do you own that you have a right to feel offended by their not obeying your wishes?

Google doesn't write or select the articles in its "News" tab. You're just seeing the anti-Bush bias of the MSM itself, which Google indexes. I read the MSM all the time and very little of it compares to the degree and magnitude anti-Bush content on Google.
It's absolutely astounding to read the headlines on Google regarding anything to do with Bush. They link at the top their lists the most obscure Bush hating publications imaginable.
I use Google almost daily and wouldn't say it if it wasn't true.

Thankfully, I'm sure God has a better understanding of how technology like Google's indexing works, so he'll probably have a good laugh with the people from Google about all the moonbats they had to put up with.

So.................if we all linked Google to "Google is a putrid pile of donkey manure" as keywords, Google would let that stand?
Hah!
Hardly.

You should always have strict filtering turned on -- unless you are sometimes looking for porn.Or unless I don't trust that "SafeSearch" might incorrectly exclude results that I want to see.
But then again, I'm not that easily offended.

I expressed my displeasure to Google but that wasn't enough. I've notified my local paper and some of the local TV and radio stations as well as some talk radio hosts. I suggest everyone do the same. The negative PR might get Google to pay attention and fire who ever is responsible for this.

Jeez...get off your "everyone's out to get me and my religion" mentality.
Do a little research on GOOGLE BOMBING before you try to erroneously accuse Google of crucifying Christ, hating George Bush who-knows-what-other-crap-is-sprewed-on-FR

With the safe search off, it comes up #8 on Yahoo.
In this instance, it's not Google so much as it is the world we're living in (though Google is a leftist/progressive company, no doubt).
