The Democrat Party and some Republicans should perhaps rethink their strategy of criticizing the Bush Administration for NSA spying, secret prisons for terrorists, rendition, and even torture and abuse of terrorists to gain information.
Majorities of all adults believe that the use of torture, secret prison camps outside the U.S., and "rendition" (defined in the survey as "sending prisoners to be interrogated in countries where torture is common") are all justified "sometimes" or "often", according to a new Harris Poll. The poll revealed that:
* 55 percent of all adults believe that rendition (as explained above) is justified either often (14%) or sometimes (41%), when interrogating suspected terrorists.
* 60 percent of adults believe that the use of "secret prison camps in Europe or elsewhere" is justified either often (14%) or sometimes (46%).
* 52 percent of all adults believe that the use of torture is justified either often (12%) or sometimes (40%).

McCain, Murtha, Sheehan, are you paying attention?
Never underestimate the great silent majority to choose what is best for America. God bless this country!
wow.
SO the silent majority seems to comprehend we are at war, eh? Despite the best efforts of the MSM, no less.
S'OK with me.
Maybe we need some more of them for Hollywood traitors and "celebrities" and college professors and the so called "intellectuals".
We're at war. A war for the survival of Western civiliaztion.
Pragmatism first, people's "feelings" later.

Shhh...don't tell the Democrats, lefties, and liberals!
[I don't like the whole 'secret prison' thing. I want to see it on pay per view.]
Yes. Iraqi Pay Per View: Every time a car bomb goes off, some of the 20,000 Jihadis in custody are "released" by the Americans, recaptured by Iraqi Army and given the chance to be put on a "Reality Show."
They can call it "Survivor: Iraq".
One too many strawberries for McCain.
Just wait until they get the feedback from the latest "outrage".
"Do you favor the government standing in parking lots looking for nuclear bombs?"
Clark, after hearing terrorists were going to detonate a hydrogen bomb in Paris: Why that's terrible Mr. White.
Perry White: that's why they call them terrorists.
Had to share.
[Shhh...don't tell the Democrats, lefties, and liberals!]
The sad thing is that they don't even KNOW that Iran is going to be issue in 2006. They think they have us on the *defensive* over whether Iraq was *worth* it...and we will be going on the offensive about how Iran has WMD.
They will try to be incredulous and say "You had your chance to find WMD...the public doesn't trust you now." Oh really?
LOL, I was going to say the same thing.
Same thing goes for executions. If executions are really going to have a deterrent value, they should be seen by all, like the public hangings of the past. Plus it would provide a good revenue stream for the government.
Exactly. This whole outrage over all the "spying, secret prisons, torture" is all inside the beltway gymnastics.
The general populace on the whole could care less what happens to these thugs.
Actually, I think this poll UNDERESTIMATES the support for these things--and a poll on datamining by NSA would shoe even greater support..
Reuters can bury the good news in paragraph 5 all they want, but I think a lot of America understands what's at stake. As I said on another thread, this is going to backfire on the grinches who want us to lose.
The war on terror is, in fact and theory, good will towards men.
If there is another sucessful terrorist attack here the 'rat party is finished.
I've always suspected this. Glad to see it validated.
