Islamic Leaders Were Paid to Aid U.S. Propaganda (NY Times Treason Alert)
NY Times ^ | January 02, 2006 | DAVID S. CLOUD and JEFF GERTH

Posted on 01/01/2006 7:36:40 PM PST by jmc1969

WASHINGTON, Jan. 1 - A Pentagon contractor that paid Iraqi newspapers to print positive articles written by American soldiers has also been compensating Sunni religious scholars in Iraq in return for assistance with its propaganda work, according to current and former employees.

Since then, the company has retained three or four Sunni religious scholars to offer advice and write reports for military commanders on the content of propaganda campaigns, the former employee said. But documents and Lincoln executives say the company's ties to religious leaders and dozens of other prominent Iraqis is aimed also at enabling it to exercise influence in Iraqi communities on behalf of clients, including the military.

"We do reach out to clerics," Paige Craig, a Lincoln executive vice president, said in an interview. "We meet with local government officials and with local businessmen. We need to have relationships that are broad enough and deep enough that we can touch all the various aspects of society."

"We have on staff people who are experts in religious and cultural matters," Mr. Craig said. "We meet with a wide variety of people to get their input. Most of the people we meet with overseas don't want or need compensation, they want a dialogue."

As opposed to every other media outlet in Iraq paying terrorist runners for their services...

What you expect! They, as the Properganda Arm of the DNC, have a vested interest in our defeat in Iraq.

They also seem to be the propraganda arm of al-Qaeda in Iraq.

I guess the Times is trying to become relevant again. Hopefully the White House will expel anyone affiliated with the Times or sister orgs from briefs, etc.

This seems to be an all out blitz of propaganda in article after article...in order to lessen the respect for the President of the United States...

Therefore, strengthening the power of the Islamic terrorists ...at least, IMHO...that looks like the goal of the NYTImes...

The more the old gray whore's stock goes down the more wild anti Bush stories they are going to have to try to play to their core of support.

Sabotage.

The war must be going too well, so the Slimes has to put our troops in further danger.

We need a rope.

"Propaganda" has to do with doctrine, not news. What's printed in the NYT is closer to "propaganda" than what we're trying to spread in the middle east.

And the NYT gets paid to write negative stories.

Properganda during a war. What is the DNC/MSM reason?

And BTW - I didn't see any headlines in the New York Times about:

Black Leaders Were Paid to Aid Democrat Media Propaganda

Er, uh, wait... It sounds like this public relations firm is either just running "focus groups" and occasionally compensating the participants, or at most keeping some consultants on retainer. Don't politicians, particularly Democrats, do that all the time? Don't corporations?

I'm really trying to understand what kind of airtight bubble the writers and editors of the New York Times live in. Do they have any understanding of the real world? Any understanding of what happens during a war? Do they really think that paying some money to some people to help you gauge the effects of your information programs is shocking and wrong?

I'm really, really trying to understand what their motivation is here. They can not possibly be this stupid.

I'm really getting sick of this, if only W. could pull an "Abe" and start throwing these NYT morons in jail. Of course he couldn't because everyone left of McCain would start saying "THIS IS SOVIET RUSSIA!" Which is where they want to live anyway.

I'm really, really trying to understand what their motivation is here.

The motivation is simple to explain: embarrass Bush and the Republicans who elected him.

To do that the NY Times needs America to lose this war.

To lose this war the NY Times adheres to the old adage: "My enemy's enemy is my friend", and the NY Times sees George Bush as the enemy.

Well kiss my grits!!

Imagine that!! Using propaganda to make us look good!!

I suppose the Slimes would have had serious problems with our WW1 and WW2 portaryal of NAZIs, imperial Japanese, etc.

If anby paper ever deserved to go bankrupt, its the New York Times - the chief purveyor of anti-American filth described as "news".
