The Shield Begins in One Week!
FX Channel | 1/2/06 | LS

Ok, Vic Mackey fans. This year Forrest Whittaker tries to do what David Acevedo and Glenn Close could not---tame Vic Mackey.

Also, 24's new season should be starting soon! Man I'd love to see Jack Bauer and Vic team up for a little whoop-@ss on terrorists!

The Shield is the only weekly TV show I make an attempt to watch. I'm looking forward to it.

I've watched "the shield" for a couple of years. I really liked it at first, but it seems all the biggest plot lines kind of fizzle out without any real resolution. (The whole "money train" deal, Mackey's feud with the captain, tec.)
I also like "24", but the weekly cliff-hanger style is a little grating.

I stopped watching 24 after his wife & kid got kidnapped, escaped, got kidnapped again. Etc, etc.

IMHO, the best part about 24 is that they actually have 24 episodes. Most series have half that.

I think for some cameos---she "moved into the neighborhood"---but clearly the new commander is Whittaker.

I loved the conclusion of the "Money Train," where they burned the money. However, it obviously still isn't over, because Vic and the boys are still being tracked for that!!

Did you watch the entire third season? The money train issue was resolved rather permanently during the last episode by Lem.

BTTT for some of the best drama on TV! All of FX's shows rock.. I love The Shield, Rescue Me, and Nip Tuck (Although I thought the Deus Ex Machina during the last 30 minutes of the Nip/Tuck season finale was sorta weak, to say the least)

I kind of like the whole over-the-top style mixed with subtile tongue-in-cheek humor....

Jack is in a shoot-out with terrorists. Ring-ring. He answered his cell phone. It's Kim. "Daddy, where's the potato chips? Did you finish them"? "I'm kind of busy now honey". BLAM, BLAM, BLAM. "Can you pick some up from the store on the way home"? "Sure, honey. Gotta go. Love you."! BLAM, Jack nails a terrorist at point blank range.

I got hooked on The Shield, liked what Close brought to it. Too bad she isn't returning.

Wanted is a good show, too. Its 2nd short season came and went before I realized it was on, so I missed all except the final 2 episodes.

The Closer is another I liked. It is coming back sometime in 06.

FX and TNT does have some good original series, but they run shorter than the regular networks. 6-12 episodes and they are gone for a year.

Yeah, aside from wrestling and Foxnews, I prety much only watch FX. I love that pretty much none of their showsare politically correct. I just finished watching Seasn 4 on DVD last night and can't wait. Also, on Nip/Tuck, I had my usual "What the heck?" reaction, but not in a good way.

IMHO,
"Homicide:Life on the Streets" was the best cop show ever on
TV.

The Nip/Tuck finale was smart TV in that they kept the action and plot twists coming so fast you had no chance to say "wait a minute, none of this adds up."
As to 24 -- can't stand it. Just what the world needs, another advertisement for torture.
And for The Shield, a cop show is a cop show is a cop show -- people who work for the government bullying, assaulting and killing people who don't work for the government.

As long as it's Kim on the other end of the phone, he can talk as long a he wants.
