Most Mormon missionaries are white. I have never had a black Mormon come to my door. Jehovah's witnesses are more diverse. I have had black, Asian, and white Jehovah's witnesses visit.

I admire all missionaries of all denominations who try to spread peace and love in this very troubled world.

This isn't funny, and you didn't mean your post that way, but you made me chuckle when you said it couldn't be a robbery. I remember when someone tried to rob a muslim bookstore in Chicago years ago. At that time I thought, yeah buddy, there's a cash heavy business, good show butt head.

When I saw the head line however, my heart fell. Such a senseless thing. Prayers and thoughts.

I see these guys around a lot and have to admire them for their work. Sometimes they go into neighborhoods that are not very safe. It almost surprises me that more of them aren't victimized. I assume these kids were white.

My eldest son got hit in the head with a egg-sized rock thrown by some local boys while visiting a tough neighborhood in Manchester, England on his mission. It almost knocked him unconscious and his first thought was anger and retaliation. But then he remembered why he was there, staunched the wound with a cloth, and got on with the work.

My second oldest son was regularly in places in and near Riverside, California, that seemed quite unsafe.

Most missionaries are white and of European extraction, but by no means all of them. These days you likely to run into a lot of darker-skinned Samoan, Tongan, or South American missionaries assigned to missions in the United States. One of the missionaries in our area here in Utah is ethnic Tongan, from Compton, California ( a very rough neighborhood). He's a fine young man.

They don't teach salvation through the atoning blood of Christ on the cross. They teach a 'works' salvation. So, they're not in the same boat. They're not even in the same ocean.

__________________________________________________________
You are so wrong, you don't even have a clue. They teach that without the sacrifice of The Lamb none of us would have a chance. They teach that if you don't have works you probably are not a follower and do not accept the blood sacrifice that was willingly given for you anyway.

If you want to find our about them ask a Mormon not a Mormon hater.

Yup.

Or a botched robbery.

Or simply didn't like the way they looked.

Jeez! I've always liked Mormon missionaries. Clean-cut, well-spoken - just a general pleasure to be around.

What kind of a jerk would do something like this?

"What does Mormonism teach?" www.carm.org/lds/lds_doctrines.htm

Jesus 1. The first spirit to be born in heaven was Jesus, (Mormon Doctrine, page 129.) 2. Jesus and Satan are spirit brothers and we were all born as siblings in heaven to them both, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 163; Gospel Through the Ages, p. 15.) 3. Jesus' sacrifice was not able to cleanse us from all our sins, (murder and repeated adultery are exceptions), (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 3, p. 247, 1856.)

I googled this topic and came up with this site. I was told these very things by a Mormon I used to work with and got to know very well. He also told me that salvation is through works and not the blood of Christ alone. Other things that he told me are in the article from the link.

I read that the mormon church thru most of its history considered the black race a cursed race. Because of Cain.

I agree. I am not Mormon but my sister is, and I have known several missionaries over the years (including one of my nephews). It is hard to fathom someone doing this, but there is such evil in the world.
Prayers for their families, and for the soul of the young man who died. And, I bite my tongue and pray for the guy who did the shooting as well. Of course, I still think he should face justice, but I pray he finds Jesus as well.

this really does sound like he did it out of plain old malice.

As much as I disagree with their views, I have always liked the Mormans I have known. Clean cut and conservative.

I had a close friend who was approached by a gang of Blacks in Norfolk and beaten. He was out jogging and didn't even know any of them. Fortunately they weren't really trying to kill him, just roughed him up.
