Tookie's fan club are fair weather death penalty foes?
01/05/2006 | Former Military Chick

Posted on 01/05/2006 7:14:39 PM PST by Former Military Chick

Stop the presses, the Hollywood elite have just become the new death penalty advocates.

As executions approach, it never surprises me that some will come out of the wood work to challenge the death penalty, fighting for the filth who is haunt death row for basically doing the worst that can be done to our fellow Americans.

So, the "Tookie Award Ceremony" took things to new heights. They rallied against the death penalty. That it was inhumane, that it was wrong, that it does nothing to stop the murderers. I listened, carefully to their arguments. They feel that each person on death row should be condemned to a life in prison. Frankly, I think they would even give them parole but I will, for argument's sake, say they want their sentence reduced to life without parole. Farrell, Asner, Snoop and Alda are passionate about their cause. Not one person should be on death row. Their lives are worth saving. You have to admire their dedication to saving all those sentenced to death. Tookie should have been honored. This is what our noble entertainers do in their spare time. Saving those condemned. I say bravo to their sincerity, to their dedication, to their heavy hearts for these felons.

Wait! Did you notice, Clarence Ray Allen, 75, "convicted of ordering the murder of his son's girlfriend, Sue Kitts, in 1974. Allen was convicted of ordering three more killings from behind bars....", is going it alone? Where are his dedicated Hollywood anti-death penalty advocates?

"Lovable" Mr. Allen could be one of their grandfathers, and is about to be put to death. He could have played Santa at their grandchildren's Christmas pageants. But, life dealt him a raw deal leading him to be forced to order the execution of 3 people. Goodness, he is a victim. He is now suffering, needing new organs. He has trouble seeing and cannot get around without his taxpayer-provided wheel chair. He is a grandpa. The Hollywood elite are not preventing the execution of grandpa? How can they allow this? Not one word from them. Not a sit in. Not an editorial. No rants on Larry King.

So, the left has become what they worst fear: The executioner. They have decided which life is worth saving and which isn't. They are playing God.

Hollywood hypocrites have put themselves in the role of deciding who should die and they have decided to condemn grandpa by their silence.

Of course they'll never admit or even recognize that their complicity in choosing to ignore one convicted criminal's plight and not another's actually justifies the death penalty. If the death sentence were unjust, it would be just as unjust for Grandpa Allen without the spotlights and microphones as it is for Tookie Williams with them.

Hollywood prefers gang-bangers and cop killers to chant for.
Richard Lee Boyd, a southern white male was executed just before Tookie, but where were the Hollywood vermin??
How about McVay? or the guy who killed an abortion doctor and was executed for it. MSM will never speak out on this dispicable hypocrisy.

One thing's for sure, FMC wasn't a typist. Sometimes she tries to type as fast as she thinks and her fingers aren't up to the task.

She was a meteorologist in the Air Force.

Thanks, I am glad you knew what I meant I typed fast and it should have been spelled Meterologist.

I really enjoyed it, all though it does put a whole meaning when I look up at the clouds. :)

Excellent point and frankly I hadn't been paying all that attention to this issue as I should have. But, you see, I believe in the justice system and hope that when all is said and done what the jury decides will be carried out.

Hopefully sooner rather than later. Obviously I should take a more active role in following this because the victims deserve justice and perhaps we need to start demanding that it be done sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the comment.

Well, that would have been great but it appears there is nobody on the outside in the last 20 plus years who has spirited his cause. Again, where is the left when a death row inmate needs them.

The only reason to abolish the death penalty is if every single death row inmate is instead forced to work the rest of their days in a coal or uranium mine.

Then you might convince me the death penalty is no longer necessary. Until then, the criminal enablers on the left should stfu.

---Heaven forbid they have to leave their lap of luxury to go to TX, OK or FL to defend the right's of a convicted murderer about to be executed. ---

San Quentin is a stones throw from San Francisco: great hotels, wonderful restaurants, great views, loads of people that share their oh-so-liberal point of view, and it must be 15 minutes to San Quentin across the Golden Gate, after hours. Why the California Department of Corrections hasn't move death row off to Pelican Bay is beyond me, unless it has something to do with assuring the legal community's plushy comfort.

From conviction to execution takes too long. There should be an absolute time limit of, say, no more than five years from conviction for the death penalty to be carried out.

You don't think they'd put innocent people in danger by working in such places?

convicted of ordering the murder of his son's girlfriend, Sue Kitts, in 1974

Astonishing. I was born in 1974. The wheels of justice don't turn very quickly. One thing is certain: If he had been executed for his first murder several other people would be alive.

I certainly don't begrudge Asner and the others a principled opposition to the death penalty in general. The Mummia-esque "He's innocent! Saint Tookie was framed by Amerikka's injustice system" BS is getting very old however. I wish they would save the liberal violin music until a situation develops where there is even a .001% chance the condemned is actually innocent.

They will make a gesture towards protesting this clown's execution but he doesn't have the same appeal for "progressive" do-gooders that Tookie did. You don't get any liberal street cred for an old white guy. Arnold won't dare grant him clemency.

Yes. If Texas could just arrange to conduct its executions in Malibu or Beverly Hills they would get more of the nut-case supporters every doomed murderer needs to make his final hours into a disgraceful media circus.

Well done, FMC. Somebody had to point it out! THe silence is rather deafening. The only half-newsworthy thing said about it was from some obscure politician working at the EU.

Lastly, thank you for your service. You still type better than I do.
