91,700 abortions in (NYC)city [40 out of 100 pregnancies ended in a planned abortion]

For every 100 babies born in New York City, women had 74 abortions in 2004, according to newly released figures that reaffirm the city as the abortion capital of the country. And abortions for out-of-town women performed in the city increased from 57 to 70 out of every 1,000 between 1996 and 2004, a subtle yet noticeable trend that experts say may reflect growing hurdles against the procedure in more conservative parts of the country.
The new Vital Statistics report released by the city Department of Health this month shows there were 124,100 live births, 11,700 spontaneous abortions and 91,700 induced abortions in the city in 2004. That means 40 out of 100 pregnancies in the city ended in a planned abortion - almost double the national average of 24 of 100 pregnancies in 2002, estimated by the Alan Guttmacher Institute, a Manhattan-based nonprofit group that researches reproductive health issues.

Chh. We're too much like "pre-flood earth" for our own good. Read Genesis 6:5-7. Sounds unsettlingly like America.
I assure you this: earth doesn't have much longer. A few months ago, I had gone out late at night with a group of coworkers/friends. We were sitting outside in a little circle, and somehow, the conversation shifted to abortion.
I was the only one in that circle of about 8 that was pro-life. Everyone else insisted 'woman's rights' and 'not a baby'. If the child was a rape baby, if the child had a handicap or medical problems, they said it was perfectly ok to get an abortion.
I was horrified. I told a story about a young woman who survived an abortion, how she was alive and well and a grown human being. One of the girls in the group was actually *shocked* to hear of a child surviving an abortion. She told me, "I didn't know abortions could be survived."
On the drive back, I sat in the backseat of a friend's car, and I started to cry. My heart was breaking. I went straight to the phone, called up my mom and asked if we could pray.
It was the first time I had ever felt the kind of sorrow we put God through every second of every day. I felt shattered, like there was no hope.
I realized fully for the first time, just how little time we have left. And I do mean, 'little'. We're going to be judged - soon. At that time, I felt like we didn't even have *days* left; and we don't. Any day now, I swear it. Any day now...

Thanks for the etiquette tip; I'm still learning the ropes around here. I don't disagree with the positive part about life, at all; I would just hope that the first experience would have also taught a positive lesson about commitment or contraception. :)

Well, that's nice. They can get in some shopping and see a play in NYC while they dispose of the defenseless child.

To resolve an argument with a relative, I called an abortion clinic here in Minnesota pretending to want an abortion, and they referred me to NY since the (non-existent) baby was over 24 weeks of age.

That used to be the reason given for going, sometimes, so it's not hard to imagine it would be again. Unless you can figure out a constitutional way to ban interstate travel... :[

Feminazis? Time to reline that tinfoil helmet. ;)
To: linda_22003
Feminazi is a technical term that refers to such feminists as work to increase the number of abortions that occur. All real conservatives know it, and know what it means, and that it is an accurate description of the class it designates.

Disagree? Certainly - Feel free to argue and bring up opposing points!
But: Do it honestly, with logic and truth.
Do it respectfully, do it factually, do it politely, do it like a (true) adult - not an insulting or derogatory child who insults the person rather than the (false or misleading) idea.
And, remember that to many abortion is a religion, almost a sacrament (blood sacrifice?) to their "god" of international socialism/anti-Christian/anti-capitalist world order!

1. A disproportionate number of folks who have abortions are "people of color" who typically vote Democratic. The statistics are available through any google search.
2. White folk in red states have higher birthrates than white folk in blue states. Religious white folk tend to have considerably less abortions than the non-religious of any race.

Get a friggin clue lady! Abortion would STILL be legal if Roe V. Wade were overturned. These ladies who didn't cross their legs nor use contraception could easily travel to states like New York, Massholechusetts, and California where the practice would remain legal by state law.

Now I am totally against abortions once I saw that what I thought was a mass of cells ended up being Zaine and Kendra who carry my last name. God save the children! >>
How right you are, I'm glad you now see the light!
Your girlfriend gave birth to two girls, two humans, both who became human at conception. There were complete with their 46 chromosomes (23 of which came from you their dad). In a matter of seconds every aspect of their being was programmed: hair color, height, intelligence, etc. From that point on nothing changes. Human, from Conception until natural death.

And while we murder and abort our future generations the Muslims and their slave women have 7 + children per couple. Yes western women have liberated themselves to ensure the future enslavement of future enslavement of women via the rise of Islam.

The New Yorker article points out the fact that New York gets more and more pro-choice every year and the fact that the Right to Life Party now has ZERO influence, especially after getting dropped from the ballot.
In short, socially conservative voters mean NOTHING in New York.

You're welcome.
I overlooked it before, but Coleus apparently posted a link to the accompanying article, which describes a group that actually facilitates the abortion process by providing housing during their stay in this city.
The Lizza article got a lot of media attention when it was first published in New York Magazine.
In fact, Laura Ingraham had an extensive interview with the author, who also hit the rest of the talk show circuit, e.g. NPR.
But yes, the demise of the RTL party in this state is shameful.
I think the last time they were on the ballot was in the previous gubernatorial election, when I voted for their standard-bearer, Gerard Cronin.

New Hampshire and Pennsylvania have relatively stingent anti-abortion restrictions, especially when you consider the fact that this state has almost no restrictions on the barbaric procedure.
And yes, those states are both within driving distance of NY.
To: CarrotAndStick
Those statistics don't seem right. They're way too steady since the late 70's. It seems the number should increase merely due to the growing population.

Great cartoon.
In some areas of NYC, the number of live births is exceeded by the number of aborted babies. NYC is the abortion capitol of America.

That is exactly what many politicians are thinking. Right now there are probably 8 million illigal immigrants working in the US. Let's assume that 3/4 are providing some sort of ID with a SSN on it. Let's also assume tha tthey are making $12,000 and paying SS on it and their employers ae matching it.
6,000,000 X $12,000 X 14% = $10.8 BILLION that is put into the SS with no earmarks.

It was the first time I had ever felt the kind of sorrow we put God through every second of every day. I felt shattered, like there was no hope. My daughters, 7 and 10, know what abortion is, although I can tell that they can't comprehend how any woman would deliberately kill her own baby. I also told them recently that, "it's even worse. Every other adult you meet believes that abortion should be legal." They just stared at me incredulously. I said, "people aren't as nice as they may appear to be."

The invasion has become a part of all institutions in this nation, political, economic, education and most important 'religious'.
These people are not going to be sent back anywhere, there is toooo much invested by tooo many, even by those who think they want them deported for it to happen. Keeping that social security alive for the boomers will decide what happens, and I do not foresee boomers telling anybody to forget about their social security checks.
