For every 100 babies born in New York City, women had 74 abortions in 2004, according to newly released figures that reaffirm the city as the abortion capital of the country. And abortions for out-of-town women performed in the city increased from 57 to 70 out of every 1,000 between 1996 and 2004, a subtle yet noticeable trend that experts say may reflect growing hurdles against the procedure in more conservative parts of the country.
The new Vital Statistics report released by the city Department of Health this month shows there were 124,100 live births, 11,700 spontaneous abortions and 91,700 induced abortions in the city in 2004. That means 40 out of 100 pregnancies in the city ended in a planned abortion - almost double the national average of 24 of 100 pregnancies in 2002, estimated by the Alan Guttmacher Institute, a Manhattan-based nonprofit group that researches reproductive health issues.

I remember this was the way it was pre-Roe. Women did say they were going with friends to the city (NYC) for sight-seeing or whatever when the real reason was to get an abortion. They also knew this would ensure their anonymity. And the airlines obliged by actually promoting what everyone knew were "abortion flights" with special rates for quick trips to the city.
Then it was for lack of abortion clinics in some states, but there was a lot of these other reasons involved. Also women seemed to think that "what happened in NYC, stayed in NYC."
Anyway, none of this changes the fact that these statistics are appalling.

I'm with you. Anyone who doesn't think that abortion, premarital sex, promiscuity, the disdain for marriage, and attempts to destroy the Christian faith, among leftists, are not linked is crazy.
You might be curious to know that, in Communist Russia in the 1970s and 1980s, all of the above happened to young men and women. No marriage, no church worship, promiscuity, and worst of all, an average of four (4) abortions per woman over a lifetime. Can you imagine? 40-year old unmarried women who keep a straight face but are tortured inside, over what their society is telling them to do? No wonder the alchoholism rate was so high.
This whole "evil fundamentalists are forcing women to go thousands of miles from home to seek a simple medical procedure" line is the latest DNC Talking Point on abortion. I'm sure we'll be hearing it again and again and again as cases come before the Alito Supreme Court.

Unfortunate news, but I understand that liberals and welfare women have more abortions.
Don't forget, there's no expense if the gubmint (aka us) is paying for it. And there's not just Medicaid or 'Welfare'. All those 'free clinics' get gubmint funding (grants, etc) too.

That conclusion is not supported by any facts ~ it's a supposition the Guttmacher people have come up with to shore up their claim that it's Evangelicals and Catholics who are getting all the abortions.
yes, by all data they do, but you know what the converse of this issue is? guess what they will want to do to you when you are old and a useless eater? a thing that can be done at the beginning of life surely can be done when life is at its end. whats the term they use? parasite? dont mean to be cruel to anyone, but what do you call a person who is bedridden and a burden to society? yep, they will call you a parasite. and as the godless dems are so fond of telling us, parasites really have no rights.

The practice is protected by the appellate procedures of the Supreme Court. No one can STOP an abortion in either North Dakota or Mississippi.

There are also no statistics to prove that most fetuses who are aborted would have grown up to be liberal voters, but that doesn't prevent speculation that the liberal "base" is disappearing via abortion.
