Mass, NY and Rhode Island - the bluest of the blues.

This is a state in which a tax cut can be decisively approved by the voters yet never go into effect. In which grocers can be prosecuted for pricing milk too low. In which archaic blue laws decree when shops may and may not open for business. In which a $2 billion Big Dig ends up costing $14 billion. In which Ted Kennedy keeps getting reelected. Hmmm... no wonder folks are leaving in droves. Seems to me MA needs to be working 24/7 to turn this around. As people leave, the tax burden for those left just increases, convincing even more to leave. A never ending circle.
I know several people from MA that have moved here to SC. Some of them are quite liberal and even they are glad they moved, even though this area is about as red as it gets.
I guess a lot can be said for lower taxes, lower cost of living, milder climate, etc.

they don't count the illegals. I know for NY, I cannot see how the population downstate is doing anything but rising. the roads are more crowded, there is an endless stream of new retail stores being built - all of which are crowded. apartment buildings going up everywhere.
if everyone is leaving NY, why am I seeing this?

Three states ranking (along with California) in top four for abortions-per-capita.

...raise taxes on people who are planning to move - that'll keep the population there. :)

Shrinking like the number of people who can stomach the democratic party. Socialist societies only work for those who are "more equal". Its time for Americans to openly reject their lies.

Taxes are a likely reason behind the movement. All three states take the "general welfare" clause of the Constitution as just cause to steal and redistribute as they see fit.
While the politics of Massachusetts stink, keep in mine the governorship has been in Republican hands the majority of the last century, including the current occupant.
I'd be upset if people were leaving Massachusetts due to the same sex marriage issue before it is given to the voters to decide. That would be a surrender. They'll need every vote the state can muster to strike down the same sex marriage law.
Rhode Island raised the "general welfare" clause to include the taking of private property to enrich wealthier individuals, which was upheld in the US Supreme Court this last year.
New York has always led the way in developing new ways of separating money from people, state citizens and visitors alike. It's no surprise knowledgeable citizens of that state go elsewhere. Visitors should go elsewhere too.

Add me to the list. I'm going down to NC, Smokey Mts to buy some land and build me a new home. I can no longer tolerate seam sippers and rump pumpers being treated like rock stars, not to mention the disgraceful behavior of the 2 useless Senators.

The good people are fleeing the communism, faggotry, high cost,(due to communism) and the loss of the second amendment.(Romney)
How long before they build the new berlin wall to keep the small business and property owners in the state?

I visited my sister (who is studying at Harvard) in Cambridge not too long ago. One thing that caught my attention: I passed by a store with a t-shirt that read, "The People's Republic of Cambridge".
Communist socities have one thing in common - they tend to depopulate over time. I guess that applies to societies that think it's fun to think of themselves as Communist too.

the population of Massachusetts has shrunk. Legal population of Massachusetts has shrunk. If you count illegal aliens, the population is probably growing.
