Washington, D.C. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today in response to the Republicans press conference on lobbying reform:
For more than a decade, Speaker Hastert and House Republicans have benefited from their systemic culture of corruption at the expense of the American people. Today, the Republicans so-called lobbying reform proposal sticks a Band-Aid on a gaping wound.
The Republican proposal fails to address the serious ethical abuses resulting from violations of existing rules and laws designed to curb corruption; it does nothing to restore an open, democratic process to the floor of Congress; and it leaves totally intact the Republican K Street project that trades lobbyist jobs for special legislative favors.
Democrats are fighting for real reform that would clean up the Republican Congress with real lobbying reform, increasing the transparency and openness of government, and enforcing the rules and laws already on the books. The American people deserve a Congress that represents the interests of everyday Americans, not those of Republican special interests and their lobbyists.

'Rat counterproposal: do nothing.
Speaking of bandaids on gaping wounds, would someone put a duct tape band aid on this woman's mouth. Where is your plan Ms. America? Oh, thats right, you just criticize, you don't actually have ANYTHING useful to advance.
...said the pus as it seeped out.
Besides Boxer, the only Congresswoman I know of that has had a frontal lobotomy....(and ten face lifts)....
Gee Nazi, er Nancy, WHERE IS YOUR PROPOSAL TO FIX LOBBYING???? Seems like you mindless libs criticize, BUT ARE NEVER PART OF THE SOLUTION!!!
(stating the obvious, I know)...
Seems Pelosi and Murtha managed to get a big Navy contract earmarked for her stepson who works for Lennar industries last year.
I'm all for lobbying reform...no money, no trips, no bennies..just like the little people.
Don't insult the poor dog. It's cuter than plastic face.
So in other words Nancy, fixing the ethics problems merely entails electing democrats to congress so that they can do nothing about actually fixing the problems. Merely being a democrat makes one "not corrupt." Umm-kay, back to the sand box with you now Nancy, most voters can think and reason beyond a third grade level, somewhere you seem to be stuck at.
:-) True.
But the more Nancy Pelosi speaks, no matter how badly we are doing, the better we look.
(LOL! Do you think that she helps Karl Rove for FREE? LOL!)
A guy in a nice suit walks into a bar, and he's saying: "Culture of Corruption", over-and-over.
He has a large, brightly plumaged parrot on his shoulder.
The bartender says, "Hey, where'd you get him?"
And the parrot replies, "Washington DC. There's millions of `em."
Spooky, that woman. I could see her in a Twilight Zone episode.
If the GOP is a "gaping wound"...Pelosi & Partners are a Genetic Defect
Get rid of these reforms and let individuals donate how much they want to political candidates.
The 'Rats ran Congress for 40+ years without a hint of concern for "lobbying reform" or any other kind of real reform, except to advance their pet left-wing causes and posture like the frauds and charlatans they are. I certainly want to see serious reforms, but that cheap 2-bit hooked Nancy Pelosi is the last person on earth I'd ask for advice on what reforms are needed.
hell no she doesn't do anything for free. She's one of the biggest abusers in Congress of using others money for trips, getting inside contracts etc. These morons make it too easy by having this dolt as their point person.
