Syria Backs Nuclear Iran

Syria backs a nuclear Iran

By Patrick Bishop in Damascus
(Filed: 20/01/2006)

Syria yesterday backed Iran in its nuclear confrontation with the West as their leaders met in Damascus in a defiant show of solidarity.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Bashar al-Assad

The Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, welcomed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and said the Iranian leader had the right to acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. In turn, Mr Ahmadinejad asserted his host's right to freedom from foreign interference.

Both men face confontations with the United Nations Security Council. The West is pushing for the International Atomic Energy Agency to refer Teheran to the council over its work on enriching uranium, which Europe and America fear is intended for use in nuclear weapons.

Mr Assad's regime is under intense scrutiny after a UN report implicated senior figures in the assassination last year of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri.

The meeting came as Mr Ahmadinejad's government warned the West that the world would face an oil crisis if Iran was referred to the council and sanctions followed. "One of the consequences will be the unleashing of a crisis in the oil sector and particularly a price hike," said Davoud Danesh-Jafari, the oil minister.

Trolls? Welcome to FR, newbie. I've been here since before 9/11 - you've been here less than two weeks. As for my points, you have yet to refute any.

Check your own history, idiot. How many Americans did the Werewolves kill? And how many has the insurgency killed?

You were right about Iraq?! It is in Iraq where all the islamic terrorists have decided to fight us and it is in Iraq where we are annihilating them. We are winning this war in Iraq and we will eventually achieve the ultimate victory over the terrorists there.

We're killing the Sunni Islamic terrorists. The Shia ones we're letting run the country. Are you familiar with SCIRI or al-Sadr? And through them, Iran's influence is growing.

The Iranian terrorist regime will be gone before 2008, nothing to worry about.

Oh please, fill all of the rest of us in on your secret plan. Because, you see, to me it looks like the Iraq War is actually making Iran stronger rather than weakening it.

Hey, the Iraq war is not enough by far.......

We need to deal with these maniacs for real, unless of course you are content with your progeny bending at the knee to that absurd religion's base.

"...there were no insurgencies in Germany or Japan."

I didn't think you were actually stupid, until after I read this nonsense.

Then give us some examples, please. I'm dying to hear your proof. Educate us all about the insurgencies in Germany and Japan after World War II ended, the ones that killed thousands of Americans and had the support of millions of people. Oh, that's right, there were none.

Common Tator posted a thread recently concerning the German insurgents after WW2. He is more knowledgeable than I am on that matter.

I have certainly read a lot on the matter, but I am not that quick with references.

As for insurgents having the support of millions of people, I am pretty sure that those BS millions do not hail from Iraq. I do know a bit more than most concerning that.

Where are you coming from anyhow?

al-Sadr runs nothing in Iraq in all seriousness - Truly nothing - He is a street gang type thug - Nothing more - Do you suggest the Crips founder is running this Country? - Foolishness - Has al-Sadr caused problems? Most certainly. But for you to extrapolate that into the notion that he is semi-running Iraq and moving it along Iran's goals is utterly silly.

The reality is Iran is completely opposed to all the progress that has been made in Iraq. Completely opposed to the free elections in which millions and millions of Iraqis have voted. Three times now. In each case the number of Iraqis has increased.

The values of freedom and self-worth that are spreading throughout Iraq (and Stan) Iran is completely opposed to. Not only opposed to they are truly in fear of these values! Your notion that Iran has been made stronger by being encircled with neighbors were freedom and self-worth are spreading is flat out wrong.

As for you trying to compare the aftermath of WWII to what is happening in the GWOT (today)....that is utterly silly. (with all due respect) We are talking about two completely separate conflicts in about every way imaginable.

Not to mention the world itself (outside of the wars) is completely different in about every way imaginable (looking at the world in 1940's and the world today).

There is no intellectually honesty behind your notion that because there wasn't as big of an insurgency type problem after WWII as there is today.......therefore something must be wrong with the GWOT.

Simply wrong headed type thinking.

The fact is Iraq (and removing Saddam) was (is) essential to moving not only the GWOT but the world in the right direction.

Our actions in Iraq and Stan to free over 50+ million people and plant the seeds of freedom and self-worth were exactly the right action to take after 9-11. In fact it was the only action to take in terms of achieving both short and long-term success.

Regards,

killed thousands of Americans and had the support of millions of people. Oh, that's right, there were none.

And those terrorists (insurgents) we are fighting in Iraq today do not have the support of millions either (inside Iraq). Completely wrong. You simply do not know what you are talking about.

Tator will confirm that the German Werewolf movement was a joke. The Iraqi insurgency is not. As for the millions figure, in Iraq alone:

Population: 26,074,906

Sunni Population: ~.20 x 26,074,906 = 5,214,981

How many Sunnis support the insurgents, either actively or passively? 100%? 75%? 50%? 25%? It adds up to millions in Iraq alone.

Al-Sadr is the kingmaker in today's Iraqi politics. Take off your rose-colored glasses - it's exactly as if the head of the Crips were in Congress or the White House.

The values of freedom and democracy we planted in Iraq have led to the election of Shia Islamists closely allied to Iran. You have no answer to that. In Egypt they led to the election of the Muslim Brotherhood. You have no answer to that. In Gaza they led to the election of Hamas. You have no answer to that.

Get your head out of the sand.

I think that you are opening wide the door for a bit of FReeper dialogue concerning this subject. I hope so.

I'll mark this thread and later see what others think.

As for me, I wonder what you have been smoking.

Some of your stuff indicates to me that you have assets in the area.

I think that it is so that the US has been "played" by Al-Sadr in recent months in the elections. They are playing us, but on the other hand, this administration here gets not enough credit for their handling of the situation. My opinion.

Clearly the media is clueless concerning current events over there.

I'm tired, but I look forward to your future posts.

We shall see what happens.
