CNN is still sick with Fox envy -- and it's only getting worse

These must be great days to work at Fox News. Not only does the 24-hour cable channel beat rival CNN like a sick, sad mule, but Roger Ailes is so deep in the heads of CNN's managers that every time they stumble over themselves in chaos -- which is often -- the chairman of Fox News looks like some kind of psyops genius.

If Ailes -- boo! -- isn't haunting the halls of CNN and driving CNN President Jonathan Klein batty with paranoia, then how else to explain Klein's relentlessly nonsensical decisions, which are driving CNN into the ground? What person rooted in reality looks at CNN and thinks, "Now there's a network on the rise"?

Well, apparently there's one person -- Klein.

I had an interesting experience in the office today. I routinely turn the TV in our office kitchen to Fox News (it's usually either on ESPN or CNN). This morning I noticed a sticky note tacked on to the TV. It said "Please do not tune the TV to Fox News! Fox News is terrible! CNN is a better choice, and it's just one station away!"

I promptly tore up the note and switched to Fox News.

I have to turn off the tv when Jack McCafferty is on the screen. He looks like an unmade bed and his comments are inane.

You make a good point. I would add that conservatives will watch a news network that it perceives as even-handed A LOT because we feel like an oppressed minority in media land. Further, since many conservatives find primetime TV to be offensive, they will likely tune in to shows like O'Reilly, Hannity, etc. because that's all there is to watch.

Liberals, on the other hand, probably have a much larger spectrum of shows to watch. So even if they think network "x" is fair and balanced, they will likely spend less time watching it.

Just a thoughts.

HA! Fox succeeds because they hire people that are articulate, attractive, and speak with a sense of maturity and confidence.

Nah, Fox succeeds because they tell the truth and are balanced. How often do you see a Republican point of view without a Democratic response? Very seldom if ever. Now can CNN, MSNBC, ABC, or CBS say the same about a Democratic point of view? Not in your wildest dreams.

Fox reporters read the news that is prepared for them..The content of what is given them is fair/ balanced and their presentation is IMO, excellent with a few exceptions.

A moonbat commenting on moonbats. What a hoot!

I didn't realize they were that flustered.

This is like when I was a kid on the farm and opened the hen-house door too quickly. Loud squawking with feathers and dust going everywhere amidst total chaos.

I think the liberals are replicating this behavior.

Maybe Tim Goodman should prove how smart he is by helping The Chronicle regain solvency before he advises CNN.

Brit Hume, Your World with Neal Cavuto, and maybe The Big Story with John Gibson, are the only weekday shows on FNC worth watching.

If CNN really wanted to be different and get better ratings, they would offer Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell MILLIONS to host some kind of current event/political hour show at 8PM. Then, they would trump FOX. These two guys really make people think, it's refreshing.

Yep ....unless a station is saying president 'Bush is this Bush is that' then that channel will strike the more liberal Left as foul. They do not want fair, they want an attack channel against the administration. And most already think that CNN is pro-Bush (which is ironic because we think it is anti-Bush).

Here are some comments dredged from 'that other place that starts with a D.' Just goes to show that CNN is basically hated by both camps. Quite funny I should say.

DUmmie Poster: I'm surprised you can tell the difference between CNN and Fox these days

DUmmie Poster: It's so hard to keep spreading lies and misinformation, isn't it CNN? I guess not EVERY country is gonna allow you to do it like they do here.

DUmmie Poster: It doesn't matter what he actually said... ...just like it doesn't matter how we actually vote. The Corporate News Network...it's hard work!

DUmmie Poster: CNN makes "gaffes" like that on a daily basis here in the states. It's a shame we can't shut them down, too.

DUmmie Poster: got caught "propelling the (Bush*) propaganda," eh? I can't say I sympathize with CNN. This is pretty unforgiveable.

For the most part, CNN has more qualified and intelligent foreign correspondents. They seem to get out of the Baghdad hotels more.

Yes, they made a lot of friends during the Saddam days!
