NBC's "The Book of Daniel" may have launched to great controversy and hoopla.
But, today, the show ended with a whimper pulled unceremoniously from NBC's Friday night schedule, effective immediately, with no more of an announcement than an entry on an NBC blog by creator Jack Kenny.

Well, after one bad experience, I haven't shopped at Burlington Coat Factory in many years...and now I know I have a reason never to give them another chance, hehe.
This is one of the things liberals hate most about a free society. The People are free not to watch whatever puke-water the liberals spew.
Now, in a "just" society, things would be much different...
ping...

Now where is my jar of crocodile tears?
Thank goodness they dumped that load of manure.
You are soooo bad. LOL
From a blog called Christian Dissent (based in Nashville;
one response to this was from someone who said when they got cable, the first thing they "blocked" was Fox News Channel).
Take it away, Mr Liberal:

I would like to express my profound disappointment in your decision not to air the Book of Daniel. I am surprised at the arrogance you have shown in declaring that you have the right to determine what is not appropriate for broadcast television in this community.
Do you think so little of your viewing audiences intelligence that you feel we cannot choose what to watch? Are you the new moral watchdog of Middle Tennessee?
As a devout Christian I have no objection to the book of Daniel. In fact, I appreciate the candor in which it portrays the many issues facing the Church. If more people took these issue head on, maybe we wouldnt have as many problems. As a public licensed broadcaster you have a responsible to spread knowledge, not reinforce ignorance and bias.
I have loyally watched your news programming in the morning and evening ever since I moved to Nashville. However, now that you have done such an intellectual disservice to the community you serve I must move on. I am really disappointed, almost ashamed.
I look forward to hearing your rational for this decision, I pray that there is something I am missing, that your actions are thought-out and fair. I fear they are not.
God Bless
Cole Wakefield
Its a gay church.
..."Well, after one bad experience, I haven't shopped at Burlington Coat Factory in many years...and now I know I have a reason never to give them another chance, hehe"...
I won't shop there again because I took something back and they would not give a refund of my money as other places do..My only option was a card they gave me allowing me to purchase something else of the same value. I rarely take anything back to any store but that is ridiculous. Thankfully, it was only $13.00 plus taxes.
Good news.
What can one say--but hahahahahahah
Schadenfreude.
:)
I'm kind of disappointed that NBC didn't keep it on longer and lose more money.
FOTFLOL! Good thinking!
Woohoo!
I'm lost. What does the Burlington Coat Factory have to do with this?
Glad to see Christians standing up to anti-Christian programming.
To hell with Hollywood. Hope the network took a serious bath on this one. Hope they contimue to lose their asses if they continue to present this kind of crap.
I'm guessing they were a sponsor of the show, but I don't know for sure.
>>I'm guessing they were a sponsor of the show, but I don't know for sure.<<
Correct: http://www.renewamerica.us/news/060113nbc.htm
Oh, that's just crazy.....what am I thinking!
oh noes!////say it isnt so!
dont worry...they'll make another show that will insult an entire segment of society.
i GOT IT!!
Bill Mahr stars in "HOLY SHIT" a comedy about a southern preacher who moves to the enlightened Vermont town.
no thats not holywood spit in your eye....thats tears o joy!!
/sarcasm
Bummer.
Bigotry is Bigotry regardless of the content. What's next the KKK family show? This is blatant Anti-Christian bigotry. From the PC crowd no less. Asshats should lose their jobs in programming over at NBC. I did not watch a single show and am glad this garbage is gone from the air.
Concur.
(My "Bummer" needed a /sarchasm added.)
As Yogi Berra once said, how are you going to keep 'em from not coming out to the ballpark?
I thought the same things. Consider the parish I just left: Raging codependant rector who has affairs and is getting divorced, Homosexual assistant rector who hooked up with someone on the internet who filed a harassment complaint when the associate tried to break it off and got the guy fired, parishioner who embezzled half a million from the diocese... Not so far off at all.
Well, rats, how am I going to get this book under my belt? And I was so looking forward to the book of Ezekiel, too...
A religious-themed show that is anti-religion. Gee, I wonder why it didn't last.
Only national adverstiser that had not pulled its ads.
Jay Leno last night, referenced the cancellation of West Wing and then extrapolated:
"If they really want to get rid of Usama Bin Ladden, they should just give him his own show on NBC and he'll get cancelled."
Let's see a show of hands, how many saw that coming after the first ad appeared? It pays to complain, even if it's just hitting the channel button on the remote.
FYI..the show's creator/writer had a blog on the ECUSA website..which favored the show..go figure..
I have an idea for a replacement show for NBC..."The Quran"..about a Mullah living in Beverly Hills with his 3 wifes, and 6 daughters...he makes them wear the burka...etc, etc..gets to meet Madonna at a Kaballah convention..
It didn't last as long as I figured it would. I had it down for 6 epi's and then disappear between the 4th and 6th by being pre-empted a few weeks in a row.
Now, I guess we get another Law & Order or Friends spin-off.
One thing that didn't help was going against the Friday night line-up. CBS has a good lock on it, compounded by the Sci-Fi channel line up.
Airing the series does show how out-of-touch with mainstream America the NBC executives really are.

I think it was an unintentional parody of what is going on in the Episcopal Church and thought that, for that reason, it was good for the show to continue. The show was much like "Thelma and Louise," a movie somehow intended to show the glories of woymn's lib, which could actually be used by Islamofascists to demonstrate the virtue of the Prophet's teachings regarding women. After all, Thelma and Louise managed to turn a simple weekend fishing trip into a bungled crime spree followed by double suicide, not much of an advertisement for woymn's liberation.
The writer/creator is a real scumbag.
I think the show did a real service by showing how corrupt and hopeless the currrent Episcopal Church really is. The writers probably didn't intend it that way, but that's what happened.
Keep ignoring it - its going away!
Dear Cole
As the manager of this station I care nothing about the "morals" of the community. It is simply not my job. It is each individual's duty to look after their own morals, and the duty of parents to govern and teach their children morals as they see fit.
However, I do very much care about the advertising revenue that each time slot produces. "The Book of Daniel" showed every sign of having minimal or even negative revenue in its time slot. As my duty to the owners and shareholders of my station requires, I have discontinued the show in its current time slot for something potentially more profitable, like "I Dream of Jeanie" re-runs. If the option becomes available, I will move "The Book of Daniel to a more appropriate time where it has the potential to increase station revenue, say 2 AM.
Thank you very much for your letter.
The WSMV Management.
Narnia is still in the theatres, still making big bucks.
Brokeback Mountain hasn't made that much money but somehow the studio is keeping that thing in the theatres. Hoping for more bucks, by keeping it "alive"?
When I've gone to the threatre over the past 2 weeks, I've checked in the "Brokeback" theatre for grins and giggles. Every time, there's been 1 or 2 "couples", of the same sex, and usually male, to see "their" movie. I've almost laughed out loud while seeing how few were in there, and the same gender pairs in there.
Do you think Hollyweird "gets" the message? No, they don't. They want to proselytize, over and over, convincing Americans that there are more of "them" than there are.
For 3% of the population, I do not have to be nice. Democracy rules, they lose - except where they use that dang PC card which is the only way they can continue to get "their" message across.
The good news just keeps on coming this week! : )
(Kevin Reilly, NBC Entertainment president, said the network's reluctance to order more episodes had more to do with the series' sluggish ratings performance than controversy.
"We're going to continue to put on creative programming, regardless of any possible controversy," Reilly said last week.)
I guess this means NBC has no problem showing ANYTHING no matter how evil as long as it draws enough ratings. Why don't they show the torture and beheading of Nick Berg? There's nothing more dangerous than people who believe in no God nor in good and evil to have power.
I agree with this statement, but the real problem is the MSM telling everyone how great something is, IE Brokeback Mountain, and the masses believes it...Watch and see BM win Oscars for every catagory entered, while the vast majority believe the film to be puke-spew. Actors/Movies competing against BM must feel a little put down, because they know that no matter how good the work, a couple of queers giving eack other blowjobs, will win..
Actors/Movies competing against BM must feel a little put down, because they know that no matter how good the work, a couple of queers giving eack other blowjobs, will win.In an industry where almost every actor, director and writer parrots the leftist/gay-agenda party line, I don't feel sorry for them. Not one bit.
Let them show some spine first, then I might empathize with their situation.
I spent a couple hours with a bunch of people from my old Episcopal church the other day. It was sad because I like them and I miss them. But I know how twisted and perverse the church and my parish are. There is no going back. I was warned it was better to make a clean break, and I see why, but I work with a couple of people from there and it isn't quite that cut and dried.
OTOH, I had a chance to talk about Catholicism with a fellow who is very theologically sound and who is doing his dissertation on Lewis' writings. He was open to the Church. I wish I had had a chance to bring up G.K. Chesterton with him, as he told me a story of having dinner with Lewis' secretary and finding he had converted to Catholicism because that is where the core of Christianity is now located. And where it must be defended, IMO. That's why I'm there. A defender of the Faith. That's what I am.
Leno is so lame, he ought to be cancelled. I know, I know, he pulls ratings. I don't really have anything against him, but I don't think he's very funny.
