Iraq's WMD Secreted in Syria
New York Sun ^ | January 26, 2006 | Ira Stoll

The man who served as the no. 2 official in Saddam Hussein's air force says Iraq moved weapons of mass destruction into Syria before the war by loading the weapons into civilian aircraft in which the passenger seats were removed.

The Iraqi general, Georges Sada, makes the charges in a new book, "Saddam's Secrets," released this week. He detailed the transfers in an interview yesterday with The New York Sun.

"There are weapons of mass destruction gone out from Iraq to Syria, and they must be found and returned to safe hands," Mr. Sada said. "I am confident they were taken over."

Mr. Sada's comments come just more than a month after Israel's top general during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Moshe Yaalon, told the Sun that Saddam "transferred the chemical agents from Iraq to Syria."

This guy does not know how to sell a book.

If instead he wrote about how there were no WMD and ole Saddam was just toying with President Bush making him think there were, now that would get him to #1 on the NYSlimes Best Seller List in a freaking NY minute!

Look for this one to be hidden on the back shelf of your local bookstore.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

"So, a country in which we enforced a no-fly zone for, what, a dozen years, kept electronic surveillance on, pointed our satellites at, was able to move WMD from point A to point B without our knowledge. And we have not got a clue? Ouch."

I believe that our gummint knows the reality but refuses to admit it. If GWB, in his presser today said,"We know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that the wmd's from sadman's iraq are in syria". The first question would be, "What are you going to do"? I don't think GWB is ready to take on syria when we are looking at iran. Assad knows that if he lets those weapons out and they are used, there will be no place called damascus. Nor syria. Period.

Plus, satellite photos showed convoys of trucks heading for Syria--what was in those?

Wedding party supplies.

Here's an article I found first. He's written others on the subject as well.

The problem here is that the Administration has capitulated that the prewar intelligence was wrong. If they know the WMD's are in Syria why haven't they done anything about it? They let the Dems steal the moral authority away from the war, leading to fiercer oppostion from the insurgency. Before anyone says it's a Rove "rope a dope", political strategy is way down the priority list in this case.

It doesn't make any sense.

We are watching a 3 dimensional chess game while only being permitted to view one of the three boards.

The USA took very strong (and necessary) action against Iraq with the strongest foreign opposition we have ever faced in these types of circumstances. We have disrupted a huge financial gravy train for Russia, France, Germany and who knows where else. We are working to do the same in the United Nations. When I become frustrated and impatient with our President, I refocus on the heavy lifting that has been and is being done by President George W. Bush. Heavy lifting that has been avoided by generations of Presidents. Heavy lifting that has been under attack by the hyena pack press, traitors in Congress, foreign financiers, foreign governmental leaders and the entertainment media as we have never seen before.

When I think of the united, corrupt opposition to our President, I am amazed that he has accomplished what he has accomplished and that God has protected him from assassination.

So, in response to your question/comment: President Bush has navigated a chess game way beyond all of his smart critics. He has taken his arrows and will continue to do so. But his moves, so far, have made better progress than I would have dreamed possible considering the obstacles. He has my respect.

But now the bar has been raised and it has to be nuclear weapons to count.
