Seems a little severe. I'd be happy if the city would let me shoot at them with a pellet gun. But when they wake me up, I'd like to see their car crushed and melted.

Oneof those mobile boomboxes went down the street the other day, and the vibes were setting off car alarms as it went...

People have the right to drive what they want as long as it's legal. That said, these boom cars drivers and Harley rider are not entitled to wake up everyone in town just because they like making a lot of noise. Fine em & and seize em.

Severe? Not at all. And I'd opt for more than a pellet gun. A full magazine from my 9mm is more to my liking.

If St. Louis outlaws installng big car stereos, it will just help the back alley stereo installation business across the river in Illinois.
However I would love to get a directed EMP device for my car, so if "Thumpy" is next to me in traffic sharing his music with everyone I can kill every bit of electronics in his car.

Impounding a car for playing loud music is too severe, opponents said, and ripe for abuse. Ya think????!!!!

I don't think anything is too severe if it shuts down the noise carefully created to disturb others.

One day when my girls were little (3 & 6ish), we exited our local grocery store and right out front was a 'yute' parked in the no parking fire zone, windows down and every offensive word known to man was blasting from his speakers.
The manager had the fella turn it down and move from the fire zone. It's not always that danged "thump", many times it's the discusting message of the 'music'.

There ought to be a simple solution for problems of this kind: put a wattage limit on the audio amp of sound systems installed in cars.

What ever happened to tickets and fines? This new wave of seizures of property for what are truly minor offenses is as far from conservatism as you can get.
I'm disappointed to see so many Freepers going along with such a thing. Maybe the next administration will take offense at your conservative bumper stickers or vehicles larger than a cracker box and seize your car, too.
I hate booming cars, but I wouldn't do an injury to the driver of such a car, nor would I seize their car. Ridiculous. Just give them a ticket and have them pay a fine.

I liken this to the smoking debate. Has it ever been proven that secondhand music causes any harm, or is just an annoyance that some killjoys want to use as an excuse to persecute lovers of loud music?

The fella who invents the remote unidirectional AM static speaker flooding device will make a million bucks in about five minutes.
Hear booming.
Turn on device.
Aim for booming vehicle.
Pull trigger.
Speakers blare AM static and blow out.
No more booming.
