Exactly right. I have been there.
im just gonna be up front, if people are gonna hate on me for my screen name, and my style of music, then the person attacking me has a temper and maturity likened that to a 5 year old,
I wish they would seize the townhome next door to us.
I went to my first concert in many, many years November 2005. It was McCartney and I figured it would be fairly tame. Two seconds into the show, I wanted to run to the bathroom and stuff toilet paper in my ears. Call me an old fuddy duddy but I've learned not to take for granted any of my senses. Another thing I can't endure as an older person but used to love as a teenager--amusement park rides. It all changes once you get past 30.
Loud noise in public that passes for "music" is a demonstration of social hostility born from a sense of inferiority. "Look at me! I AM somebody". Fortunately for them, I am too smart to brandish my noisemakers.
bah, they should be smarter about it. enforce restrictions on noise polution based on decible level at a certain distance, on stanrdard for day, one for night. violations should be punished with disturbing the peace violations. 3d offense should be meisdemeanor disorderly person, possible jail term.
apply same standards to ANY noise violation, including, but not limited to, cars with loud exhausts, motorcycles with loud exhausts, loud and obnoxious passengers- including screaming children, trailers, animal carriers, squealing tires, vehicle vibration, horns, etc.
i have less problem with loud stereos than i do any of those other sources of noise polution.
I agree 100%. But, do you want to give this authority to a person over the age of 18 who has completed the manditory police training, to use 'at will' however they see fit? Ever get a ticket you thought was unfair? How about having your car 'seized' for daring to look the officer in the eyes. I saw nothing in this article about 'decibel measurements', the level of sound tolerance is left completely up to the whim of the officer. Would you give an angry Muslim this type of power over your life and your possessions? No? Why would you give this power to anyone?
This is an emotional reaction, not one based on logic. While blasting music is rude and disrespectful to the public, it is not life threatening. Heck, I'd like to see these people get the #$%& kicked out of them for this, but seizing the car is over-reacting.
Consider, I can drive over your lawn, trash your flower-bed and saplings, leave rubber marks on your driveway, lead the police on a high speed pursuit through a school zone, run cars off of the road, hauling a dozen illegal aliens in my trunk, while being drunk (all hypthetical, of course) ... and the courts would have to use DUE PROCESS to take my car. In most cases of this very thing happening, the car is NOT taken. But, if they play the radio too loud.... Not logical.
"Seized"? That little word has numerous Constitutional implications. The Takings Clause and Search and Seizure Clause come immediately to mind.
Actually you have to be over 21 to become a law enforcement officer in my city, I think 21 is too young/immature, 25 seems to be an appropriate age. There used to be a time when young people had more respect for others and the police, when some rules could be enforced by a simple raising of the eyebrow or a stern look, not anymore. It seems to me many young people today cannot be discouraged from acting outside the set of social rules so you are going to see more laws like this enacted, its a sign of the times, the entitled generation is bringing it upon themselves. And by the way, if you drove by me with the tunes bumpin and made eye contact, you can bet your life I'm going to stop you, why would you feel you have to look an officer in the eyes while you are driving? Seems to me you were looking to be noticed. Where I'm from, if the police can hear the sound from 75 feet away they can impound your car, and there would be a hearing to determine liability, then a fine imposed. Police use discretion while enforcing laws every day of their careers, dont challenge the police because the pen is mightier than the sword.
"to severe." Two issues: one is that the author is a grammatical idiot. The second is, I think these morons' parents should be spanked.
Bingo. These stooopid twerps drive us nuts. It can be >120 degrees or <0 degrees and these jackasses have their windows cranked down play this, what we refer to is as "RapShit." My son started this, and I took his car into the woods, poured 5 gallons of gasoline on it, and lit off a round. Then I had to hire a bucket loader to remove the car's carcass.
eye gotta ax yew a kwestshun whar dit yew go to skool eye lyk yur delibery konversayshun and eye yew may beecom a rocket scitest sumbday
wayne westland public schools, they suck,
btw, if your trying to make me look dumb with that statement, i understood every word, better luck next time,
I believe you misunderstood me. Text is a very poor vehicle for innuendo.
Consider, a police man pulls you over for speeding. The driver shows disrespect in some form or another. The policeman knows that the radar provides evidence in a recorded, quantifiable and verifiable manner. But his ears produce none of the above.
So for reasons of demonstrating power (ego) he reports the car as being loud, and impounds the car. No evidence is required .... none, zip, nada. It's his word against yours. If he is black and doesn't like whites; impound the car. If he is white and doesn't like blacks; impound the car. If you remind him of someone he hates, he's in a foul mood, you have a nicer car than he does ... whatever.
No evidence, no witnesses, no record of the violation; you are giving TOTAL strangers the ability to stop you at will, effectively STEAL your car; thereby forcing you to stay in a hotel/motel and bail your car out of bondage ... and the distinct possibility exists that you did NOTHING at all.
Now I have known a few police officers in my day. Many are honorable, trustworthy, honest and upright citizens performing a Hero's job. But there are a great many High School 'Bullies' who cravely hide behind their badge, so they can abuse people while using the badge as a shield. There are also the craven lowlife who are unworthy of respect, so they take a job as an officer and use the badge to prove a point.
Now, you are saying that I should support giving any person with a badge the authority to impound my car, without the benefit of due process, witnesses or any kind of evidence, proof or recording instrument?
I wouldn't trust my mother with that sort of power.
Sounds good to me.
IMHO, this is not aimed at tax paying citizens, but gangbangers who bring down the quality of life with their "thumpin sounds".
Perhaps you haven't noticed that police prefer to stop middle-aged while men. That's a FACT not MHO!
We have had them almost knock us out of bed at about 2 a.m. in the morning. And our house and especially our bedroom is practically sound proof. Nothing annoys me more. I really don't care to listen to boom noises when I am trying to sleep.
We have also had them shake the windows in our business while they were stopped at a red light on the street next to the building. I would hate to have their eardrum problems in years to come. I just want them to keep their "music" to themselves like most decent, respectable people.
Maybe they should be forced to listen to some classical music or Tammy Wynette (Hillary's favorite singer /sarcasm).
I've noticed that young white suburban kids tend to be the main culprits of the loud, thumping car stereos playing rap music.
My guess is that many black kids probably live in an area where a $5000 car stereo will be stolen in the blink of an eye and thus don't want to spend that much money on one.
My younger brother was one of these kids. Used to drive me crazy! He spent thousands on his stereo till he had a car with literally no trunk or back seat space. All speakers and amps. Eventually he grew out of it.
