The French newspaper France-Soir have published the Danish cartoon images of Mohammed, the same ones that have caused such a furore in Denmark. They have put them under the motto 'there is no place for religious dogma in a secular society'

Doubt if any US newspaper will follow suit.

They've been posted several times on various earlier threads.

The French have done something very right, and they've done it in style.

Now I want an American paper to do the same.

But they better watch their necks.

It won't be long before steel collars are all the rage in Europe. An unarmed society is soon to be a headless society. Thank God for the Second Amendment.

Every newspaper in the world should publish these

(just as authors went around wearing T-shirts that said, 'I am Rushdie' when that author was condemned to death in a fatwa).

But the newspapers will probably only be interested if there is an angle by which they can bash Bush.

Don't count on it.

We've become very squeamish when trying to go non-PC.

The Euros are sometimes capable of going that way, just like the Danes and French have shown us.

But over here, we've become so sensitive, if a newspaper published these cartoons, the sacred cows of printed journalism (NYT, WP and LAT) would chastise that publication to kingdom come.

Sad truth, but it is the truth.

Any newspaper that prints a story about that cartoon without showing the cartoon isn't worthy of publication.
