Eeesh. This story reminded me of the building I used to work in. Five story green glass building near the shore of Long Island Sound and, apparently, right on the migration path of a variety of species of bird. A beautiful building, it reflected the light very well. Every fall, the courtyard on the north side of the building would be littered with avian carnage, from geese to hummingbirds. The conference rooms stuck out from the building a little, hanging in space as it were, and when something big would hit the window, folks would panic and run from the room.

Tharayza's soaked raisins would do just fine.

Birds seem to enjoy Pyracantha berries, too. I remember seeing birds get a bit loopy after gorging on them.

Yah, they do the same around here. Having had a few picture windows in my time, I've seen a lot of bird carnage. However, many many times, the birds have their bells rung, fall down, then just when I go out with the dust pan, they get up and fly away!

When I was a kid, we had a chinaberry tree whose old berries would ferment, the birds would "get tight as a tick" ( Dad's colorful phrase ) and try to fly away by flapping only one wing...
