LISTEN TO ANDREW: WILKOW on WABC

http://www.wabcradio.com/

Sunday, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. EST

THE NEXT GENERATION OF GREAT TALK RADIO

Andrew Wilkow is the newest and youngest member of the WABC air staff. Yes, he's in his very early 30's, but we don't want to reveal his real age because we don't want to come back and update this bio every year. He does speak a little bit of a different language than your typical WABC talk show host, but we think that's a good thing.

Even if you leave the other team out of it, just consider two basic points here:

1. There is no reason to keep your starters playing in a game where you are up by 50+ points. If your bench players don't get into a game that you end up winning by 100+ points, then when do you ever send them on the court?

2. Epiphanny Prince already has a basketball scholarship to Rutgers next year. Imagine the cries of outrage that this coach would have heard -- and justifiably so -- from every corner of the sports world if she had suffered a career-threatening injury in the second half of a game that her team was winning by 80 points.

Via Reuters, here's the latest on what's happening in the Muslim world (http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory?id=1581827):

Angry Lebanese demonstrators torched the Danish consulate in Beirut on Sunday, further escalating a violent turn in protests over the publication by European newspapers of cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad.

Thousands of protesters, some carrying green Islamic flags, chanted "God is Greatest" outside the burning building as thick black smoke billowed into the sky.

Some stood on top of a fire engine, one of three damaged by protesters to prevent fire fighters putting the blaze out.

It was not immediately clear if the building was empty.

On Saturday furious Syrians had set fire to the Danish and Norwegian embassies in Damascus. They also damaged the Swedish embassy and tried to storm the French mission but were held off by riot police.

Associated Press adds this (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060205/ap_on_re_mi_ea/lebanon_prophet_drawings):

The trouble in Lebanon threatened to take a sectarian spin as protesters stoned the nearby St. Maroun Church, one of the city's main Maronite Catholic churches, and private property in Ashrafieh, a Christian area near Beirut's commercial district.

Two Jordan editors are arrested

Two Jordanian newspaper editors who published cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad have been arrested.
Jihad Momani and Hisham Khalidi are accused of insulting religion under Jordan's press and publications law.

Mr Momani was fired from the weekly Shihan after reproducing the cartoons - originally printed in Denmark - which have caused a global storm of protest.

One of the cartoons depicts Muhammad as a terrorist. Any images of the Prophet are banned under Islamic tradition.

From Bulldog Pundit:
A Message To All Those Muslims Rioting Over Cartoons....

If you are one of those Muslims that is rioting and setting embassies ablaze because of some Danish cartoons depicting Allah is a terrorist I just want to let you know that you are all "bleeping" insane nutcases that the world would likely be better off without. Perhaps you all should use your energy to coming out of the stone age, teaching your women to read and drive, and aspiring to something other than getting 72 virgins in exchange for blowing infidels to bits.

Hey, if you're offended by the cartoons, get over it. Does it suck to be offended? Sure, the first reaction that sane people have to getting offended isn't to kill people and destroy things. And keep in mind you're getting worked up into homicidal rage - BY FRIGGIN CARTOONS!!!! For any of you who say there's no difference between their culture and our own, keep in mind this is all happening because of FRIGGIN CARTOONS!!!

So again I say to those rioters that instead of killing people and shouting "Allahu Akbar!!", it might be a better idea to bring your bass-ackwards culture into the 21st century so that instead of having time to burn the nearest embassy you all could make meaningful contributions to the world and let the rest of us get on with our lives without having to worry about the next batch of suicide bombers and terrorists coming out of your midst.
