There aren't any monsters in my closest either.
And frankly, I don't worry about what ifs, concerning Hitlery!; but I do worry what nefarious garbage she's doing now, in the Senate and out of it.
"THE VIRTUAL HILLARY RATIONALE ----- repressed woman".
"x" -cellent points ;)
jla nails Noonan's pov. Eloquently.
He spoke for both of them, alternating between oily racist and reliable misogynist. Instead of striking out as her own person in this friendly venue--it was the Coretta Scott King funeral, for heaven's sake--she reprised their '92 electoral refrain. 'Two for the price of one' would be, as it had always been, the order of the day.
NO BARGAIN If they didn't know in '92 that one was not enough, they certainly know it now. (Refuting the axiom that 2 x 0 = 0), their 'twofer' construct remains the lifeblood of her electoral--(and, arguably, non-electoral)--life.
"When you look at the way the House of Representatives has been run, it has been run like a plantation, and you know what I'm talkin' about. [Note the gratuitous g-droppin'.] hillary clinton She of the 'plantation' blunder simply wouldn't play here. He, as First Black President?, was providing cover. And still the central question remains: Can spilt oil raise a sinking ship?

"You know, if I were a single man, I might ask that mummy out. That's a good-looking mummy" Bill Clinton, looking at "Juanita," a newly discovered Incan mummy on display at the National Geographic museum
Who, in the course of a lifetime, hasn't encounteredsomewhere, sometime, somehowa Hillary Clinton in one form or another? She's a type, a mold, a case study. It's the Compulsively Lying Psychobroad-Striver-whose-Ambitions-are-Ahead-of-her-Talents Phenomenon.

"I think for me, the sickest and scariest kind of rage is the Hillary Clinton kind of rage. You know, the perpetual permafrost smile she wears that's hiding a well of fury deeper than Barry White's voice during a bout of pneumonia." -- Dennis Miller
Thanks. I love Julia Gorin. I haven't read her in a while. I used to check in at JWR all the time, bur for some reason lately haven't. Thanks for the reminder.
And it's so true, Hillary is really scary because of the facade and the anger, contempt and condescendsion lurking and simmering underneath.
You miss my point entirely, jla.
To ignore--or as Noonan did, to mischaracterize--the clintons' 'performance' at the funeral does not change the essential truths. Peggy Noonan failed utterly to see the game the clintons were/are playing. And you fail to see Peggy Noonan's failure.
As for the badmouthing of Bush, wrapping 'the Jeffersonian spirit of Americanism' around it doesn't automatically make it right. (Such an analysis is facile, simplistic. At best....)
Indeed, there are two very good reasons why this behavior is wrong: (1) it aids and abets the enemy, (Which president did al-Jazeera quote first, I wonder...), (2) it tarnishes a person's funeral.
You conveniently latched onto the clinton's crudeness. That had nothing to do with the point of my piece.
