***** Any conservative who knows anything about Rudy Giuliani's social views knows he is not the man to lead the party in 2008, or ever. The press isn't acknowledging Giuliani's stance on these issues in its attempt to give liberal GOP candidates like Giuliani and Sen. John McCain a free ride. We need someone to lead the GOP on the major social issues of our day, in addition to fighting the War on Terror and keeping our economy on the right track.......Giuliani's socially liberal agenda would be, as Sager quotes in his NY Post column, "utterly unacceptable." Name Redacted Manhattan
***** The chances of Giuliani winning the GOP presidential nomination are slim to none. He'd be eaten alive in the primaries by the Republican base. Giuliani's liabilities are that he's a New Yorker who is for abortion, same-sex marriage, lax illegal-immigration enforcement and gun control. As for national security, he's more a perceived expert than an actual one. Name Redacted Stow, Ohio
***** The very same political posturing that got Giuliani elected as New York City's mayor will prevent him from becoming president. He knew that taking a left-wing stance was necessary to enable him to win in America's bastion of liberalism. Such a history will not sit well with many red-state voters, but a sudden about-face would be a clear and futile case of extreme political pandering. Republicans who support candidates whose core convictions are subject to political whims are already firmly ensconced in McCain's camp. Name Redacted Philipsburg, N.J.

In this Age of the Value Voter, among Rudy's huge liabilities is his personal life. Rudy's love life reads like a sordid tale from an X-rated paperback romance novel. Mayor Rudy, while a married man and father of two, got involved with his third and present wife, escorting her publicly, and insisted his lover move into Gracie Mansion while he was still married.
As for party loyalty, forget it. Rudy once endorsed a radical liberal Democrat--Mario Cuomo--over Cuomo's Repub opponent--who won.
Most egregiously, Rudy looked the other way when his patronage appointee Russell Harding --Liberal Party's Ray Harding's son, now in jail for government fraud----was stealing from the city's Housing Development Corp. and enjoying kiddie porn and gay vacations with his gay pals on the taxpayers dime.
Rudy would hunt down every gun, of every type, in every household in the USA and melt them down into scrap metal. Rudy doesn't need a gun. Like all rich liberals, he's got armed guards to protect him.
Rudy's vulnerability is his close relationship with Bernard Kerik. Perhaps Rudy ought to tell voters how he plans to use failed HomeLandSec appointee Bernie Kerik's personal, business and political expertise to help him win public office (poster laughs uproariously).
If either Rudy or John get the nod in '08 I'll be sitting on my hands come election time.
Two losers for sure.
However, I doubt they will get the nod.
I will vote.....I dont know for whom....3rd party??? Write in Mickey Mouse? whatever, but it wont be for Rudy (who I like as mayor of NY) or John (who I like as the war hero he is).
I will vote for Rudy any day of the week. Times have changed! We need to elect someone because they can keep our Country safe from terrorism. I don't care if he has baggage..who doesn't! Find me a SNOW WHITE clean Politician. There aren't any! Rudy is the ONLY person who can beat Hillary. If it's between Hillary and Guiliani, I can't imagine anyone who cares about the safety of this country, and their family, staying home and giving their vote to Hillary! Guiliani will pull votes from Independents AND Democrats. Men will vote for him over Hillary. Lets not be so stuck on stupid that we hand Hillary the election!
Hold on....we don't have a candidate as yet. Hopefully will be one you will support. Voting third party helps the Dem candidate----remember Ross Perot?
I will vote for Rudy any day of the week. Times have changed!
I'm with you and you are very brave to post that here.
I am supporting George Allen or Mark Pence.
Other than doing a good job on and after 9/11 what has Rudy done? Nothing.
And remember how he wanted to remain mayor, even though his term had expired? He thinks we can't do without him.
This guy is to the left of John Kerry on all social issues.
The President has important constitutional responsibilities - the national sex life is not among them.
If Rudy is the nominee I will stay home in 2008.
Right on. Find me a SNOW WHITE person.
And the last we need are religious bigots choosing the next President.
We need a tough guy in the WH. Rudy's the man. Although I think he'll be VEEP, then Prez.
I'm not worried about Hillary. I don't think she'll be the Dem. nominee. But if she is, she'll be lucky to win 3 states. Mark my words.
If its between Rudy and Hillary, I vote for Hillary. At least she won't shove gay marriage down our throats.
I'd rather live with terrorism and continue to carry my SIG P229 daily, than to give up my constitutional rights so I can FEEL safer. All Rudy did on 9/11 was go downtown and stand by while the real heroes went to work. Oh, and he scored some serious cash from the federal goobermint.
Supreme Court justices aren't getting any younger and Rudy may have a few appointments to make, if elected.
No way.
Mike Pence is the only guy who has what it takes to defeat Rudy and McCain.Only Pence can unite Christian Conservatives and libertarian-leaning fiscal conservatives.
Religious bigots?
What do you mean by that?
He will not make the primaries...
the point is moot.
He cant make the republican primaries in the red states.
His baggage is too much.
Times have not changed enough so as to take away my right to defend myself if the whole Muslim debackle turns into a shooting war at home...
We need a person tough on Radical Islam, not on Americans.
A Snow-White clean politician is one thing, but how can Rudy hope to get the Republican nomination as a pro-abortion gun-control-advocating candidate? Those two positions alone make him unelectable. It can't be McLaime either. Who does that leave? It remains to be seen....
