Brit Hume's Special Report with Robert Novak

Posted on 02/14/2006 6:59:32 AM PST by jubail

Monday's edition of Brit Hume's Special Report, the best political show on television, had Bob Novak sitting in the first panelist chair normally occupied by a conservative. He continued spewing his Bush bashing venom from his days at CNN. I never thought I would send Brit a negative email but I did this morning. Is he trying to drive away viewers?

I dont have a problem with any other panelist. I especially like Nina Easton, liberal but great looking. The only one I put in the Novak category is Ci Ci Connelly.

I have to agree. I did not care for Novak on the panel. Something, his look, his style, his tone just did not fit.

And of course he too was concerned that the press was not told about this non-event immediately.

Freddie The Beadle's shtick was getting old, but Novak was no breath of fresh air. I like Bill Sammon.

I agree, Fred isn't telling me anything that makes me think anymore. He appears to be knee jerking in his responses. Bill Sammon pulls the conservative line as much as Barnes, but at least he explains his reasoning.

I have never liked Bob Novak... Brit Hume's report is the only thing I tivo and watch almost everyday. I do hope this guy does not become a regular...

This guy is from the old guard... from the days of Bob Dole and the like, pre 9-11. Politics is a different ball game today. People are more "defined"

Mort, Juan, Ceci et all are there to take the administration to task. We don't need Robert Novak for that! I'd prefer to see some semblance of "fair & balanced".

Novak has no credibility. Any buddy of that crew he assembled on CNN doesn't deserve time on Fox. Lets keep it fair and balanced Fox or you will sink into the same cesspool as your competition.

Agree. I looked at that panel and couldn't find a conservative among them. Brit, as always, put them in their rightful places. I wish Krauthammer was on every day. His mind is an amazing thing to behold.

Krauthammer is great. I love that show (I tivo every day so I can watch later), with or without Novak. I even like resident liberal Maura Liasson (sp?)...great show.

I like her too. She clearly is a liberal in her thinking, but she doesn't  spew talking points like Juan Williams. Her responses are well thought out and usually appear not only logical but quite often turn out to be true.

If I got to choose the panel it would be Kraut, Mort & Nina Easton/Maura Liasson .... I've had a season pass to Special Report for about six years now.

Novak considers himself a conservative rather than a Rep or Dem. He opposes big government and bashed GWB for being a big government prez. He is also an arabist, so he does not like the Iraq war. With 50+ years in the media gossip business, he will defend "media rights" over "White House secrecy" every time.

IMHO, those are positions that reasonable people can disagree on. However, he does not pair well with Mort (socially liberal, otherwise somewhat conservative Dem) and Mara (liberal spinmeister who does a clever job conveying the DNC talking points). He should be paired with one of the neocons like Krauthammer, Sammon, or Kristol.

If you had a choice, would you take Novak over some of the lefties like Juan Williams or CeCe Connelly?

I don't always agree with Novak but he is a true conservative like Limbaugh. He is not going to give Bush a pass on all the big government spending, and pandering that happens at times. I think he is a little bit to socially liberal for my liking, but his core belief is limited government and lowering taxes.

I am working my way through this article about the neocons. Have some reservations about it so far, but thought you might be interested in it, because of your comment.
