I just heard from a local radio reporter (during Rush newsbreak at approximately 1:00 p.m) that Whittington "may have taken a turn for the worse," and was put back into intensive care.

Guess it is a good thing that doc who supposedly saw him first didn't just send him on home, like he says he wanted.

IF he took a "turn for the worse," it likely has more to do with his being 78 years old than having been peppered with bird shot (based upon the doctor's report).

If he dies in the next 20 years, the morons in the media will blame it directly on Cheney.
To: be-baw
Man, I hope he doesn't die. The press would have a field day. Even if it wasn't due to the shotgun pellets, it would be a circus.

Hate to say it, but he'll probably catch some kind of bacteria infection from simply being in the hospital. And who knows where it'll go from there........

I work with a lib, and even she admits that the press - especially the narcistic White House press corp gaggle of wackos - have gone off the deep end. She actually said to me yesterday, to paraphrase: "Enough about Cheney... What are we going to do about that guy in Iran?!?! He's nuts!!"
Hmmm, even some on the left are "getting it." :-)

Since we know the media lies through their teeth nearly 100% of the time, I'd wait to get verification of this story before believing it.

As soon as I heard how old this guy was, I knew something else bad would happen. 78 year olds who aren't professional hunters shouldn't be doing this stuff.

Minor heart attack .. prayers for him. May God grant him healing and recovery.

I heard this on the radio as well. Folks, don't fall into the nonsense that this gets "worse" for the VP. Th ewhole incident is interesting but not a significant national story. It is a common hunting accident.

To be put in ICU in the first place indicates that the wounds were somewhat more serious than being peppered.

"Man, I hope he doesn't die. The press would have a field day. Even if it wasn't due to the shotgun pellets, it would be a circus." No reasonable person is going to hold this tragic accident against Dick Chaney if Whittington dies. All the usual cockroaches will crawl out of their dank crevices to pounce on Cheney, like the anti-gun lobby, the heartless, gutless liberals and the like. But most Americans will be turned off by their crass, opportunistic scavenging on the bones of Mr. Whittington.

It shouldn't. Whittington has had a minor heart attack because the shot has moved and lodged in his heart.

Minor heart attack?
Probably the stress from all the press hounding him and his family.

Per presser on Fox:
Currently in stable condition.
Piece of birdshot in heart caused minor heart attack.
Patient had no symptoms, but docs picked up on irregular heartbeat.
Doctor explaining more now.
To: sissyjane
He is asymptomatic. Has birdshot in his heart. Will keep him in the hospital for a week.
Caused inflammatory changes has called heart irregularity.

FNC has News Conference is saying some of the brid shot moved into his heart and caused him to have a minor heart attack
Saying that he is saying that he feels fine and asked to go home .. having no pain
But doctors want to keep him in the hospital for another 7 days for observation

It is related. Bird shot found in his heart. Will treat conservatively, without surgery. Surg has too many risks for a 78 yr old.

So, his current situation IS due to the shot. I predict much ugliness in the media.

My liberal, Clinton-loving girlfriend also has finally had enough with the craziness displayed by the Iranian leader and the rioting islamic mobs.
She actually said she could understand now why I think it's time to make Iran and Syria glow in the dark.

yes, but the problem is what happens over the next 20 days, not the next 20 years.
yes, this was an accident. but surely you aren't going to argue that if this fellow dies of a heart attack now, that the stress resulting from this accident had nothing to do with it.
To: onyx
They are saying he has a very strong heart and in very good shape for his age
sounds like they want to keep him there for more observation
